We are looking for a Director of Business Communications who will join our Corporate Affairs team in Marysville, OH.

What you will do in this role: 

This is a senior writing communications position on the Corporate Affairs team.  Reporting to VP of Corporate Affairs and Communication Services, you will work closely with executives and teams across the enterprise including finance, investor relations, legal, government relations and marketing. The role requires creativity, the ability to change course quickly and perform in fast paced situations. Experience in a wide range of writing styles including speech writing, strong strategic thinking and an understanding of current events are must haves. 

  • You will partner directly with members of the executive team on leadership communications, advising on messaging, and effectively driving business narrative across internal and external communications.

  • Produce compelling and tailored speeches, features, talking points and other communication material.

  • You will lead communications in conjunction with the EVP of Corporate Affairs and Investor Relations for quarterly earnings announcements, other important company business and financial-related events and announcements, including Investor Days.

  • Lead the production of the Company’s annual Corporate Social Responsibility Report and ESG narrative.

  • Contribute to reputation building initiatives and help to provide compelling, thoughtful and relevant leadership communications that address public issues impacting the company and its executives.

  • Work with many teams inside the organization including finance, investor relations, legal, government relations, and others.

  • Develop written materials that may include company messaging and statements, press releases, communications plans, FAQs, and other collateral

  • Help to provide a compelling voice and additional senior leaders as appropriate, lead in the development of their key communications messages. 

  • Review, edit and rewrite written material required by team members as needed.

  • Ability to understand the requirements of various teams and convey “the client’s” key messages adequately and appropriately through effective use of language

  • Efficiently manage deadline-oriented work while contributing to the development of new concepts, techniques or ideas at brainstorming sessions.

What you will need to be successful: 

  • Literature/Journalism/Communications Bachelor’s degree  with a minimum of 7 years’ experience in communications, public relations or journalism, or equivalent work experience.

  • MBA preferred. 

  • Investor Relations communications experience a huge plus.

  • Ability to write and edit speeches in the voice of the presenter.

  • Previous experience as a member of a corporate communications team preferred but not required.

  • Excellent editing, writing and re-writing skills.

  • Able to provide error-free content.

  • Ability to recognize the key messages of internal clients and offer effective ways to convey them to the relevant target audience.
