We are looking for a Director, DTC  who will join our Hawthorne team (a subsidiary of Scotts Miracle-Gro) who will lead our Direct to Consumer Distribution team. The ideal candidate will be located in the Vancouver, WA area, however, this opportunity can be remote with the expectation of supporting the West Coast during normal working hours (PST).

This role will be responsible for strategic execution of our DTC activities in North America. This position has direct responsibility for all service and financial metrics related to DTC to include analysis of warehouse and carrier performance, capacity planning, shipment execution, and provider/carrier collaboration, including contract management. Lastly, this position understands and promotes safe and compliant warehouse operations and ensures freedom to operate through the enforcement of Standard Operating Procedures, company policy, all legal/regulatory considerations, and company/regional Safety and Quality procedures.

 

What you’ll do in this role:

  • Owns the relationship between the Distribution team and corporate business partners (Direct to Consumer (DTC), Business Development Teams, Purchasing, Customer Service, Sales) to promote exceptional service through our direct to consumer platforms while maintaining efficient distribution operations.

  • Drives DTC Warehouse effectiveness and efficiency improvements with data based analyses (metrics) and recommendations using quality management techniques. Develops specific performance objectives and performance measures for warehouse operations.

  • Incorporates industry best practices for Direct to Consumer processing into our network’s operating environment to promote state of the art service levels to the consumer.

  • Provides support for warehousing network changes, system installations, new product launches, product transitions, and acquisitions

  • Provide leadership to Distribution managers and associates to enable best-in-class customer service and experience.

  • Evaluate historical inventory data and collaborate with purchasing, finance and planning teams to maximize cash flow opportunities.

  • Foster a team environment with a focus on associate engagement, excellence and safety.  

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, supply chain management, operations, finance or other related degree.

  • Minimum of 5-10 years of distribution/warehouse operations or logistics analytics 

  • Analytical experience and knowledge of supply chain processes and procedures within a manufacturing CPG company and general knowledge of retail business a plus.

  • Exposure to compliance and safety requirements associated with the management of a warehouse operation.

  • Ability to engage and inspire leaders and associates to deliver outstanding customer service.

  • Strong business acumen, with a solid record of leading change and delivering results.

  • Flexibility to accommodate 35%+- travel as required based on business need.
