We are looking for a Dispatcher who will join our team in Bolingbrook, IL.

  • This is a non-exempt salaried role. You will be eligible for OT pay.
  • We will be relocating to our Channahon, IL facility before the end of 2021.
  • Starting at $38K based on experience

If you enjoy a fast-paced, high energy manufacturing environment then you will fit in well as a Dispatcher for Scotts Miracle-Gro. On a day-to-day basis you will be responsible for the execution of all plant activities related to private fleet freight, including planning and scheduling loads, dispatching drivers and maintaining minimum daily load volume.   This position is critical in ensuring timely and cost effective delivery of products to distribution centers and customers. The position is responsible for working closely with other dispatchers, Suppliers  and Distribution centers to coordinate matching loads and reducing empty miles. The position directly impacts distribution costs for the company.

What you'll do in this role:

  • Coordinate Scotts private fleet freight ensuring maximum efficiency as well as timely deliveries.

  • Develop a working relationship with the Distribution Network to ensure best utilization of the fleet across Ft. Madison, IA and Bolingbrook locations. 

  • Maintain and processes all necessary records and paperwork to ensure that private fleet is in compliance with state, federal and local regulations. Confirm and/or process orders and bills of lading.

  • Schedule and confirm pick up and delivery appointments when needed.

  • Monitor and update locations and ETA’s of drivers, ensuring timely deliveries.

  • Main point of contact to ensure driver’s professional needs are met.

  • Respond to customer request efficiently and thoroughly.

  • Advise customers on delivery scheduling and order problems.

  • Coordinate return loads with other locations to reduce empty miles.

  • Identify gaps in available internal freight that will need external freight to fill driver capacity. 

  • Perform special projects and other office duties as requested.

  • Conduct weekly review of shipments for rating accuracy.

  • Analyze tendered freight to provide insight on ways growing fleets capabilities.

  • Schedule drivers time for Safety Training.

What you'll need to be successful:

  • A High School Diploma.

  • Two to four years experience in a traffic or freight related field.

  • Previous experience dispatching trucks.

  • Microsoft Office and computer skills.

Other nice to haves:

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

  • The ability to manage multiple priorities at once with a strong customer service orientation.

  • Knowledge of state, local and federal DOT regulations.

  • Knowledge of office procedures.

  • SAP experience.

  • Transportation Management System (TMS) experience.
