We’re looking for a Distribution Manager to oversee a multiple shift operation with more than 100 associates in our Marysville, OH distribution center! Our distribution center is approximately one million sq. ft. in size and is directly attached to a manufacturing facility where we produce a variety of fertilizer and grass seed products.

On a day-to-day basis you are responsible for all aspects of inventory management, fleet, and transportation of more than 600 million lbs of finished goods to DC across the country.

In this role you will:

  • Manage, direct, and coordinate activities associated with the daily operation of the Marysville Distribution Center.

  • Responsible for budget planning and execution.

  • Develop and maintain a distribution strategy that supports the overall Scotts Distribution and Supply Chain strategy. This includes, staffing, equipment needs, inbound/outbound scheduled planning and execution.

  • Implement and monitor initiatives to meet or exceed customer delivery and quality expectations.

  • Provide direction and support to the MDC operation including interfacing with MDC shift supervisors, packaging supervisors, the transportation department, and leadership of MDC administrative staff.

  • Responsible for the maintenance and proper functioning of the equipment directly impacts the cost of goods, production reliability, and the quality of the goods shipped.

  • Work with external vendors in the coordination of the MDC facility and equipment PM’s/repairs.

  • Conduct performance appraisals and department performance summaries.

  • Accountable for the overall safety and health of the employees within the MDC.

  • Ensure compliance of all policies and procedures.

  • Facilitate safety meetings with department associates.

  • Develop and maintain department SOP’s by job and activity.

  • Responsible for the implementation and direction environmental policies and procedures within the department.

  • Perform analysis of data including cost and variance, staffing, operational efficiencies and department systems and processes. Other areas include, inventory management, period cycle counting schedule compliance and daily monitoring of SAP for inventory/discrepancies.

The perfect person will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration or related study.

  • At least 5 years experience in warehouse supervision or supervision in a production environment.

  • Basic understanding of distribution, transportation, inventory control, and freight routing.

  • Computer skills including, but not limited to, MicroSoft Excel, Word, and Access.

  • Strong leadership skills and a highly effective communicator with great time management.

  • The ability to adapt to flexible work schedule and/or hours within a seasonal business.  Including weekends during our busy season.

  • Strong administrative and planning skills.

  • SAP and TMS system experience is preferred.
