Reporting to the Director of Marketing and working collaboratively as part of the Scotts Canada Marketing Team, the Digital Marketing Manager will help develop and execute our digital marketing strategy.  Managing a team of Digital Marketing Specialists, you will drive consumer and customer-facing initiatives intended to support both brand and customer business objectives.  You come with a broad base of digital MARCOM and Ecommerce experience. You will have the opportunity lead the analysis of the current Scotts Canada digital ecosystem and shape its evolution in order to help continue to build on Scotts Canada’s leadership position.  You are a thought leader, innovator, and growth driver with an insatiable curiosity to know more.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate as a player-coach, both working with and leading your team to implement successful campaigns

  • Drive the strategies to empower digital marketing and media for all Scotts brands, including a full array of paid channels, owned channels, and data platforms

  • Responsible for all digital MARCOM initiatives including content creation, social media channels, SEO, SEM and branded websites 

  • Work with Shopper Marketing Manager and Brand Teams  in the support of key account initiatives including retailer web product pages, product, educational and lifestyle content, online promotional strategy, social media and digital advertising

  • Develop and execute CRM strategy including: consumer acquisition, promotional targeting,        e-blasts and newsletters

  • Ensure your team has the support and tools needed to deliver positive outcomes to the business

  • Manage key digital agency relationships, deliverables timelines and budgets

  • Lead the monthly reporting in conjunction with agency partners, for websites, e-blasts, social media SEO, and SEM using various digital tools such as Google Analytics, creating scorecards with relevant KPI’s and communicate performance metrics out to the appropriate teams within the organization, providing recommendations to improve key performance metrics

  • Collaborate with brand teams and creative agencies in the development and execution of digital advertising, product and educational content across all relevant channels, ensuring continuity and seamless integration across all consumer touch points 

  • Work with Ecommerce sales team in the development of our go to market strategy, activation, growth plans and management of retailer D to C and BOPIS programs

  • Perform as a thought-leader within the organization, actively educating associates and executives about the opportunities and challenges for digital marketing, digital media, and consumer data

  • Stay up to date on current best practices, trends and technology for digital marketing and make recommendations to drive efficiencies, improvement and innovation

  • Collaborate with the marketing brand team as well as with US Digital and Ecommerce teams, leveraging learnings, strategies and assets to achieve marketing and business objectives


The ideal candidate will have:

  • University education in Marketing, Commerce, Business or related experience.

  • 5+ years of proven work experience as a performance digital marketing leader on a category-leading consumer brand/e-commerce brand or through a body of work from a nationally-recognized digital agency

  • Experience in leading and coaching teams

  • Exceptional collaboration, presentation, written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Ability to effectively manage relationships with third-party partners and external agencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills,  high attention to detail, aptitude for troubleshooting and gap identification

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple demands and tight deadlines

  • Bilingual (English/French) would be an asset
