The position will be responsible for consistent quality of production by developing strategy and enforcing good quality practices at the plant and with its suppliers.  The candidate will ensure that these operations and the products produced and distributed meet corporate, customer, consumer, and regulatory requirements.  This includes achieving environmental, health, safety, quality and productivity objectives. This position will be based in Orrville, Ohio.


In This Role the Manager Quality Assurance and EHS Will:

  • Develop, implement and manage data based procedures and decision-making, to ensure that the Orrville operations are in compliance with Corporate Quality Manufacturing procedures, EHS policies, as well as state/federal regulatory compliance. Specific action items include, but are not limited to:

    • Develop operator based quality procedures.

    • Ensure accurate, timely and cost-effective data is provided by department resources for production control and decision-making.

    • Identify, communicate and respond to consumer quality and safety concerns or trends for prompt resolution.

    • Ensure that the Orrville Plant is in compliance with corporate quality and EHS standards.

    • Ensure that products are in compliance with all raw materials and formula specifications including understanding and applying chemical and regulatory knowledge to bring nonconforming products into compliance according to regulatory requirements.

    • Monitor, document, and audit test methods and results to ensure that test procedures are accurate and reproducible and that data is appropriately archived.

  • Manage and develop a technically competent staff of Quality Assurance Technicians. Conduct and document ongoing appropriate and timely performance feedback, to include annual performance appraisals for indirect reports.

  • Manage quality related interactions, including raw materials, with suppliers, and internal documentation under the guidance of Corporate Quality. 

  • Monitor and document internal quality issues and identify and implement continuous improvement projects.

  • Approve raw materials and finished product process changes per Management of Change guidelines and waiver process.

  • Disposition product and approve process changes per Management of Change guidelines.

  • Manage all environmental permits, implement, direct and be responsible for the health & safety programs.

  • Participate and direct the Plant Emergency Response Team

  • Prepare and submit EHS reports

  • Manage site EHS Programs (LOTO, Machine Guarding, PIT, Storm Water, RCRA) and compliance reporting

The Perfect Person Will Have:

  • BS degree in Operations Management, Quality Management, Engineering, Chemistry, Public Health, Environmental Science or related sciences.

  • At least 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment or consulting environment

  • Ability to learn and execute EHS and Quality programs.

  • Demonstrated people management skills.

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes (blending, packaging).

  • Proven risk-based ability.

  • Ability to assemble, interpret, and explain quality and safety practices and methods to non-technical personnel through both written and verbal communication.

  • Working knowledge of various software programs including Google and Microsoft Office (particularly Sheets/Excel and Slides/PowerPoint).

  • Effective oral and written communications.

  • Ability to travel to various destinations, such as to Vendor/Supplier locations.
