The material expediter position compiles and maintains material and parts inventory and status
information to expedite movement of material and parts between production areas and from
external sites. The material expediter is responsible for transactions within the manufacturing
system to control scheduling and inventory for various product lines. They provide production
control support by expediting material transport and orders expediting.  These duties and
responsibilities are not exhaustive and will be supplemented based on business needs.
Detailed Description:

  • Read production schedules, inventory reports, and work orders to determine type and

  • quantity of materials required, availability of stock, and order priority.

  • Works with department supervisors and MRP Analysts to determine overdue material

  • and parts and to inform supervisors of material status.

  • Works with warehouse and production associates to expedite transfer of materials from

  • stock area to production areas.

  • Coordinates return of product to the supplier.

  • Identify root cause and resolve all transactional issues.

  • Identify and help drive resolution of chronic shortage issues.

  • Identify where reporting issues are occurring and make corrections, up to and including training shop floor operators how to report transactions correctly.

  • Review and ensure all SAP data is correct:  back-flush completion.

  • Communicate with MRP and Quality team on all unusual issues, as required.

  • Works closely with suppliers on deliveries, quality issues, and expedites.

  • Communicates material shortage promises to production leaders and MRP Analysts.

  • Optimizes and coordinates in-bound freight transportation methods for ordered material

  • Optimizes material storage of raw materials in between Scotts warehouses, Supplier

  • Managed wareshoues, and 3PL warehouses.

  • ● Responsible for other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:
● High School Diploma
● 2+ years of inventory management, material requirement planning, or procurement
● Experience using SAP, JDA, or similar systems
● Experience utilizing Material Requirements Planning tools (SAP desired)
● Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Access
● Organizational and communication skills
