We are looking for a Network Manager who will join our Information Technology team in Marysville, OH.

This position will be based at The Scotts Miracle-Gro world headquarters in Marysville, a suburb of Columbus, OH.  Not familiar with Columbus? Visit

The Network Manager’s role is to manage and support the stable operation of  the SMG computing network. This includes planning, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links while ensuring minimal network downtime. The person will also diagnose, resolve, and document hardware and software network problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training and support where required. The Network Manager will lead a team of 4 network engineers to deliver and execute IT strategy.

What you’ll do in this role:

  • Collaborate with network analysts and designers to create optimal network design topologies and configurations.

  • Aid in development of business continuity and disaster recovery plans, and maintain current knowledge of plan executables. Respond to emergency network outages in accordance with business continuity and disaster recovery plans.

  • Prepare and ensure accuracy of documentation, procedures manuals, and help sheets for network installations, including data, voice, and video systems.

  • Support development and implementation of networking projects and new technology installations.

  • Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts. Evaluate and recommend the purchase of networking hardware and software products.

  • Write technical specifications for purchase of networking hardware and software products.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of networking contracts and supervise contract-based installations. 

  • Lead, manage and develop a team of 4-6 network engineers

  • Maintain all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, hubs, and UPSs.

  • Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.

  • Use metrics and KPIs to demonstrate delivery of service to the business in enabling outcomes 

  • Receive and respond to incoming calls, pages, and/or e-mails regarding network connectivity problems.

  • Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex network problems for a variety of end users, and recommend and implement corrective hardware and software solutions, including off-site repair.

  • Recommend, schedule, and perform network improvements, upgrades, and repairs.

  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory.

  • Prepare, maintain, and adhere to procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring network data.

  • Collaborate with, and provide training and support to, help desk support staff on network issues.

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science or Management Information Systems

  • 6 -10 Years of hands-on experience with appropriate network platforms

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills

  • Significant experience with Cloud and SaaS providers such as AWS or GCP for secure infrastructure platform designs

  • Strong technical knowledge with core infrastructure services across Systems, Network, and Security platforms

  • Working knowledge of tools used for vulnerability management and security compliance

  • Working knowledge of network health monitoring tools and processes

  • Experience integrating  systems with other critical infrastructure components such as load balancers, reverse proxies, firewalls, IDS, SSO, and IAM

  • Knowledge of project management concepts and deliverables

  • Proficient in technical documentation
