We’re looking for a Procurement Manager,  Packaging to manage our Flexible Packaging portfolio. 

Ideal candidate will be local to the Maryville’s, OH World Headquarters. 

If you enjoy a fast-paced high energy environment then you love Scotts Miracle - Gro.  As a Procurement Manager at  Scotts Miracle-Gro, you will have responsibility for procurement support activities, category and supplier management to drive savings and change in our business.

What you’ll do in this role:

  • Manage packaging categories of approx. $90-$100M

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies and strategic plans covering market trends, supply assurance, quality improvement, supplier development, sustainability, and financial & supply risk mitigation

  • Complete financial forecasting, develop and execute cost savings projects

  • Select and develop suppliers and strategic partners while working as a member of cross functional teams including R&D, Marketing, Regulatory, Quality, and Manufacturing to improve existing and develop new products across all Scotts Miracle-Gro brands.

  • Leverage supplier capabilities to deliver efficiencies and innovation.

  • Align cross leadership/cross functional partners to strategies.

  • Conduct supplier negotiations, bids, renewals to deliver annual awards.

  • Demonstrate deep market understanding for owned categories.

  • Deliver annual savings, efficiency, and cash targets to improve business position.

  • Lead suppliers, with legal support, through contracting process to ensure that all partners have signed NDA, MSA, and SLEA in place.

  • Create and implement comprehensive procurement strategies for Flexible Packaging materials.

  • Effectively manage relationships with manufacturing facilities.

  • Ensure compliance related processes and procedures are uncompromised.

  • Develop disruption mapping and mitigation strategies.

  • Ensure suppliers are following Scotts sustainability guidelines and implementing required actions.

  • Lead evaluation of supplier capabilities, cost structure, risks, and partnership potential to determine supply base.

  • Travel as required (Domestic & International).

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Bachelor's Degree.

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in procurement, supply chain or business analytics.

  • High degree of critical thinking.  Must be able to independently source and evaluate supplier capabilities.

  • Must be able to make methodical and intelligent decisions relative to strategy and negotiations.

  • Solid negotiation skills.

  • Demonstrated collaborative team player with a strong initiative to win.

  • Able to effectively communicate with multiple departments within the company.

  • Some International purchasing experience/responsibilities.

  • Strong computer skills (SAP R/3, SAP/PLM, MS office programs).

  • Must possess good judgment, initiative, strong work ethic and dependability.

  • Creative/Out-of-box thinking and ability to successfully sell ideas in a large organization.

  • Ability to succeed in a competitive, fast-paced environment.
