Coordinates quality support function by ensuring that manufactured components are to spec and suitable for assembly.  Works in conjunction with molding operators and material handlers and trains these associates in quality and safety topics.  Audits manufacturing processes, and performs layout and inspection of components and assemblies to confirm adherence to specifications.  Acts as liaison between Quality Sr. Lead / Supervisor and assigned shift. Effectively leads other associates.

  • Works together molding operators and material handlers and trains these associates in quality and safety topics

  • Coordinates labor of quality inspectors throughout the different shifts

  • Performs audits as needed and covers for quality inspectors during the shift

  • Escalates to leadership issues as required

  • Gathers data such as scrap rates, samples, quality findings and performs reports as needed

  • Performs data entry in SAP and iAuditor

  • Collaborates with metrology and other departments to investigate quality issues

  • Audits manufacturing processes, and performs layout and inspection of components and assemblies to confirm adherence to specifications

  • Uses existing documentation as a guide, and initiates corrections if that documentation is inadequate

  • Acts as liaison between Quality Sr. Lead/Supervisor and assigned shift

  • Ensure passdown of Quality notifications and alerts among shifts

  • Identifies opportunities for quality improvement and initiates corrective actions with external departments.

  • Adheres to safety rules and ergonomic practices.  Keeps work area clean. 

  • Performs other duties as necessary.

  • Works overtime as needed

  • Bilingual (English-Spanish) strongly preferred.

Education:
High school diploma, G.E.D. or 3 years related experience in a manufacturing operation.

Experience: 
3-5 years experience in a fast-paced manufacturing operation.

             

Knowledge:
Ability to measure parts features using fixtures, calipers, micrometers, pin gauges and other measurement equipment. Basic computer skills in Excel and Word software programs.  Must be proficient in dimensional inspection and metrology, blueprint reading, SPC concepts and preparation of simple charts and reports.  Ability to communicate quality issues to various levels of the organization.

Skills and Abilities:
Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.  Must be able to work the required shift.  Must be able to work overtime.
