We are looking for a skilled Seasonal 2nd Shift Maintenance Mechanic who will join our Scotts Growing Media team in Chester, South Carolina.

The Seasonal 2nd shift Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for working with the maintenance team on installing, repairing and maintaining all industrial equipment at the plant site. This includes installing/repairing mechanical piping, rotating equipment, fabricating and welding. The individual must be able to demonstrate proficiency in pump rebuilding, equipment alignment, pipeline welding and troubleshooting complex mechanical systems

What you’ll do in this role:

  • Troubleshoot and perform repairs and maintenance on parts of equipment including mechanical, hydraulic, electrical  and pneumatic repairs. 

  • Repair production line equipment including conveyor belts, packaging equipment, grinding equipment and stacking equipment

  • May perform or assist in the installation of machinery and equipment

  • Cut and welding, including light steel fabrication

  • Install/repair HDPE, FRP and Steel pipelines

  • Performs maintenance duties or other duties as assigned 

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Ability to work 2nd shift 

  • Work incident and injury free

  • Ability for prolonged and repetitive motions of standing, twisting, stooping, kneeling, squatting, bending, climbing, reaching overhead and arms/hands dexterity

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 75 lbs

  • Prior relevant maintenance experience

  • Teachable attitude and ability to learn on the job in a fast paced environment
