The Sr Analyst, Internal Consulting is expected to demonstrate their functional domain expertise (either supply chain, innovation, marketing, or sales processes), drive results, and quickly become knowledgeable in multiple disciplines outside their area of expertise through a consulting mindset.  This Sr Analyst will be a key part of a new internal team focused on creating value for the business by executing high-visibility initiatives and delivering measurable results.  The projects will vary widely in scope and scale.  This position will have a wide range of responsibilities including providing input and recommendations on project scoping and staffing, managing day-to-day project work, completing process analysis and design work, and creating high quality deliverables.

 

This is a key new role in our SOF (Special Operations Force) Team.  SOF is a focused, dynamic team within Scotts that reports directly to the CEO and is responsible for strategic planning, competitive intelligence, internal consulting, and M&A.  We are looking for a high-performing, high-potential candidate who can make a significant and immediate contribution to the team.

In this role you will:

 

  • Work with the Director, Internal Consulting to build the internal consulting capability for the company including developing processes to execute initiatives consistently

  • Provide functional expertise as well as general business advice as needed

  • Research and implement leading practices in support of each initiative

  • Manage the day-to-day execution of a wide range of high-visibility, strategic projects for senior leaders including completing analysis, creating deliverables, and building communication materials

  • Provide input on the approach, timing, and resources needed to execute projects

  • Collaboratively work with business unit peers and external subject-matter experts and/or consulting firm resources as needed to execute initiatives

  • Effectively communicate the results of the team’s progress and results

  • Support other leaders in the SOF team with strategic planning and M&A activities as needed

 

The perfect person will have:

  • 4+ years of experience working for a management/strategic consulting firm and/or an internal consulting team (ideally in the consumer products or manufacturing industry)

  • Solid functional experience in supply chain, innovation, marketing, or sales processes combined with broad business knowledge

  • Exposure to process design and mapping including familiarity with process improvement techniques such as six sigma

  • Solid track record executing at a high level as an individual contributor in the following areas:

    • Analysis - analyze and documentation of the current state of the business through stakeholder interviews, requirements gathering, and gap analysis

    • Future state design – conduct external research on leading practices for functional area of expertise, size opportunities, facilitate the creation of a future state vision, build business case to justify investment

    • Project Execution - demonstrated experience executing high-priority projects from concept through implementation

    • Communication - solid verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills - including the ability to build presentations to communicate complex topics in straightforward ways.  Strong presence, poise, and persuasiveness to quickly establish a high level of credibility at all levels.

  • A desire and comfort in working in a changing, fluid, ambiguous environment

  • Ability to meet aggressive deadlines

  • IQ/EQ balance that will enable growth into senior roles.

  • Ability to work in a collaborative, open work environment
