We are looking for a Senior Supply Chain Analyst, Forecasting who will do all of this and more. This position will ideally be based in Atlanta, GA but we are also considering candidates who are remote.

The Senior Analyst is responsible for developing, maintaining, and communicating forecasts of market demand for all Scotts products at the Scotts Company’s largest customer- Home Depot. These forecasts drive production decisions, inventory replenishment, procurement of raw materials, sales strategies, financial projections, and marketing plans.

You will conduct research and incorporate key business drivers into the forecasts by collaborating with other stakeholders to understand the impact of market factors such as promotions, pricing, weather, and advertising on product demand. The Senior Analyst will report to the Forecasting Manager for the Home Depot Business Development Team (BDT) in Atlanta and will work closely with the rest of the Scotts Company’s Supply Chain staff, as well as the Atlanta-based Sales group.

What you’ll do in this role:

  • Analyze trends, patterns, and relationships in large datasets to estimate the effects of different market variables (pricing, promotions, weather, advertising) on demand

  • Obtain information from Marketing, Sales, and Finance counterparts regarding all business strategies that might affect consumer demand

  • Translate the analyses into quantitative forecasts that will be the basis of all production decisions, financial projections, and inventory replenishment

  • Communicate the resulting forecasts accurately to all Supply Chain, Sales and Finance counterparts in a timely manner

  • Present and explain the reasoning behind all forecasts to senior leaders, company executives, and Home Depot in an effective, professional manner

  • Review actual demand against the forecast and take appropriate action to correct forecasts when necessary. Communicate any changes to the forecasts promptly and effectively to Supply Chain and Sales counterparts.

  • Provide accurate feedback to Home Depot, Sales, and Marketing on the way changes to any market strategies would affect the forecasts and how forecast changes would affect production, inventory replenishment, and procurement decisions

  • Determine key drivers of forecasting errors and identify opportunities to improve forecast methodology and forecasting processes in the long term

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Thorough knowledge of Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, statistics formulas, etc.)

  • Strong analytical skills: the ability to find trends in data, select the right method to analyze, summarize, or visualize a dataset, spot outliers or errors, determine the strength of relationships

  • Experience working with large datasets

  • Basic understanding of statistics (at a minimum)

  • The ability to make important business decisions in a high-pressure environment and to take responsibility for the results

  • A professional, confident communication style that allows you to have conversations not only with counterparts in other departments but also with company executives and with our largest customer

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Supply Chain, Marketing or another quantitatively-oriented discipline with some business focus

  • Formal training in or work experience with statistics and market research is highly desirable but not mandatory

  • Work experience in the Consumer Goods or Retail industry is desirable but not mandatory
