We are looking for a talented Senior eCommerce Content Copywriter & Editor that combines writing, editing and supreme organizational skills to join our team. In this role, you’ll need to be the expert on all brands and product information (including, but not limited to: lawn and garden, hydroponics, live goods, indoor gardening, home decor, etc.). You’ll need to successfully lead and manage internal and external copywriting resources through a high volume of product content, while elevating quality and ensuring top-notch accuracy and compliance. 

This position requires the ability to easily combine your creative and technical writing and editing skills to masterfully and succinctly tell engaging product stories online to drive traffic, conversion and sales across DTC and Retailer sites. The ideal candidate will be able to work well in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and be agile enough to respond to dynamic and ever-evolving products and markets.  

This role will report to the eCommerce Content Creative Manager.

What you’ll do in this role:

  • Produce engaging, educational and optimized SEO copy for all products across all brands and categories for Retailer product pages and web page content;

  • Successfully lead and manage internal and external copywriting resources, manage training and on-going development;

  • Edit and quality check all product content;

  • Be able to manage a high volume of work with aggressive deadlines;

  • Develop expertise in all brand style guidelines and preferences, SEO best practices, establish content strategies and maintain living documentation for the team. Also, be able to drive brand consistency across all product content;

  • Continually research products and the competitive landscape to keep our brands top of mind;

  • Work closely with multiple stakeholders to draft and finalize copy and be comfortable with multiple iterations and managing feedback from a myriad of cross-functional partners; 

  • Stay current and maintain an active understanding of all Legal, Regulatory and Retailer requirements including compliance requirements as well as word and character counts for product titles, descriptors, bullets, long descriptions, etc.

  • Have the ability to vary voice and style for different audiences and product lines;

  • Be able to manage your work within an online project management system, Google Suite, and Excel content forms as well as adhere to a workflow process for managing edits and feedback;

  • Manage budgets and project status reporting, as required;

  • Manage and implement on-going content processes and workflow improvements as needed.

Additional responsibilities assigned as special needs may arise and should be considered as important as brand/business responsibilities noted above.

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Degree in communications, journalism, marketing, English or related field;

  • 7+ years of demonstrated professional copywriting and editing experience with an agency, publishing or CPG company;

  • Experience managing or leading a team and developing other Copywriters;

  • Possess exceptional communication and organization skills, super-strength proof-reading skills and a propensity for critical thinking with the ability to multitask like nobody’s business;

  • Must be a fast-learner with a confident, open-minded, and flexible attitude;

  • Ability to successfully manage and prioritize a high volume of work across many variables with competing priorities with aggressive deadlines; 

  • Strong work ethic, excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a diligent eye for detail, language, flow, and grammar. Plus a high degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and follow-through;

  • Be able to write and edit content within a distinct brand voice, for diverse audiences;

  • Be passionate about pushing work to the next level to deliver content that exceeds expectations;

  • Demonstrated history of being a self-starter and working independently with an interest in on-going learning and self-improvement; 

  • Established track record of creating successful marketing content from start to finish;

  • Strong ability to simplify complex ideas into digestible information for consumers online;

  • Team player mentality and must be a good listener with an appreciation for cross-functional stakeholder management;

  • A positive, go-getter attitude; passion for storytelling and helping build growing brands;

  • Outstanding verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills; 

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word & Excel);

  • Experience in eRetailer/Omni retailers (Amazon, Lowe’s, Walmart, etc.) or other CPG company preferred but not required;

  • Gardening enthusiasts are a huge plus (or quickly willing to get hands in the dirt!)
