We are looking for a Sr Quality Lead for our Lighting department to join our team in Temecula, CA.

Our Sr Quality Lead will assure all aspects of product quality are met, including, but not limited to product testing, assembly measurements, documentation and finished product condition. Drive to continue to improve the quality of our products for an excellent customer/consumer experience. Conceive, plan, and conduct research in problem areas or areas of opportunity for the business.  

What you’ll do in this role:

  •  Performs quality inspections on components and finished products by using fixtures, calipers, micrometers, pin gauges and other measurement equipment. Documents results and communicates issues to the production floor and supervisory personnel. 

  • Conducts the required number of product inspections per AQL requirements. Submits required data entry in SAP and iAuditor and administers timekeeping of assigned associates. 

  • Responsible for meeting quality standards on materials and products and executing appropriate actions associated with these standards. Follows and ensures compliance with MIP and SOPs for decision making and compliance with quality standards. 

  • Plans, directs, and oversees auditing activities of the Quality Department. Directs activities of the Quality Assurance Auditors to ensure compliance with business needs and requirements of the Quality Systems. Assures full compliance of all Hawthorne (SMG) and Regulatory/Compliance agencies requirements that pertain to quality. Audits procedures and specifications of production line checks (MIPs) to assure compliance.

  • Responsible for the Associate Quality Training Program within the facility. Assesses skills of Quality Auditors and monitors performance to appropriate levels. Assists with training of manufacturing Leads and Operators on proper quality criterion.

  • Monitors and reports on monthly Quality Metrics and KPIs. Generates and submits periodic reports (FPY, HFI, Scrap).

  • Monitors hold-for-inspection (HFI) activities. Ensures HFI entries are complete and accurate, and that materials are dispositioned and processed in a timely manner.  Holds periodic Material Review Board Meetings.

  • Monitors QM SAP activities. Works with Quality Supervisor to manage internal and external corrective action requests, vendor notifications, internal notifications, and waivers (ZV, ZS & ZW).

  • Monitors investigations, communications, tracking and documentation of quality issues (e.g.: lot number tracking, counts, start & end dates, finished good recalls).

  • Responsible for leading Plant Quality Discussions and communicating any conditions and concerns with the Plant Leadership Team.

  • Collaborates with Quality Supervisor in execution of technical projects engaging relevant departments to maintain and improve product quality. Other tasks as assigned. 

  • Supports the organizational goals to develop the quality system, SOPs within the scope of their assigned work area.

  • Focuses on continuous improvement of Quality Systems including preparation of materials, coordinating and delivering training.

  • Ensures the provision of a safe work environment for associates by confirming the adherence to safety policies, assessing and eliminating hazards, and conducting timely accident/incident investigations, including the implementation of corrective action to prevent future similar accidents.

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Associate's degree required or equivalent work experience.

  • Must solve problems in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite (Gmail, Microsoft Office 2010 – including but not limited to Excel, Word, etc).

  • Great written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Must teach, direct and motivate associates.  

  • Must be able to react positively to feedback.

  • Six months experience working in a fast pace quality department.

  • Familiarity with Quality Systems, Root Cause Analysis, Corrective Action Implementation. Able to communicate to different departments on various subjects.

  • Ability to measure parts features using fixtures, calipers, micrometers, pin gauges and other measurement equipment. Able to communicate to different departments on various subjects. 

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, walk and stand for extended periods of time. 

  • Bilingual (English- Spanish) preferred.
