We are seeking to hire a Quality Assurance Lead at our BRAND NEW Gresham, OR facility on 1st shift!

Hours will be Monday-Thursday from 5:00AM-3:30PM

Minimum starting pay of $22.00 per hour

Distribution Center Quality Assurance Technician

The DC Quality Assurance Technician works as a member of the Warehouse Team to assure compliance to all Hawthorne (SMG) Quality, Regulatory, and Compliance standards. Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor, the DC Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for all aspects of product Quality and Compliance at the Distribution Center including but not limited to inspection of outgoing customer orders, accuracy of shipped goods, transfer of Quality Inspection materials in SAP, documentation of new audit procedures, and communication of quality issues. The DC Quality Tech is responsible to lead warehouse quality discussions and communicate any conditions and concerns with the Warehouse Leadership Team, working cross-functionally with the Quality, Customer Service and Warehouse Teams to continue to improve the quality of our shipments and to provide for an excellent customer/consumer experience.

Duties and Responsibilities of a Distribution Center Quality Assurance Lead

encompass the Comprehension and Execution of all Hawthorne Gardening Quality Standard Processes and Procedures (Including SMG Corporate Policies as applicable):

  • Lead all site quality issues including customer returns, segregation of bad product, investigation of customer feedback, and rework of finished goods. 

  • Perform outgoing quality audits of distributed goods to ensure conformance to quality standards. 

  • Perform outgoing inspection of goods to ensure inventory accuracy.

  • Maintain required record keeping/retention of quality documentation within the facility.

  • Perform data entry into SAP and perform data analysis of quality data in a timely manner.

  • Lead and coordinate special projects and testing as directed by Quality, Customer Service and Warehouse Teams.

  • Work closely with Hawthorne’s Distribution Analysts to provide feedback that drives quality improvement.

  • Perform routine audits of warehouses to ensure proper storage of raw materials, finished goods and date sensitive products.

Qualification Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent work experience in a quality or auditing position. 

  • Proficient computer skills including SAP, Microsoft Word and Excel. 

  • Strong communication and technical writing skills with experience writing SOPs, Work Instructions, technical reports. 

  • Experience leading and training others is strongly desired; the ability to manage multiple projects and multi-task is a must.

  • Experience with product pulling/tracking computer programs is desirable

  • Experience operating warehouse equipment (forklift, order picker, pallet riders, etc.) is desirable

  • Must be able to lift 55lb. products periodically throughout the day with no physical limitations

  • Ability to operate efficiently in a fast-paced environment

  • Clear written and verbal communication
