The Transaction Tax Analyst will process monthly outsourced sales and use tax compliance including data collection and reconciliation of sales and use tax payments as prepared by consultants, including regular communications with consultants. The role will be responsible for review and payment of personal property tax, real estate tax, and business licenses to jurisdictions. Additionally, this person will be expected to file unclaimed property reports and researching abandoned property law changes. Maintaining tax calendar for all assigned tax returns and related bills will be apart of this person's responsibilities. Ensures timely payment of all tax bills. Researches proper application of transaction tax laws to a variety of business transactions including purchases, expansions, acquisitions and restructuring.

In this role you will:

  • Process monthly sales and use tax compliance, business licenses, exemption certificates, and abandoned property returns for all legal entities.
  • Facilitates real and personal property tax payments, including budget review. Maintains tax due date calendar and ensures timely payment of all bills.
  • Assist with state and local audit examinations to provide support and explanations for positions taken on tax returns filed for sales & use tax, property tax, and unclaimed property.
  • Reviews PARS (Procurement Authorization Requests) to ensure proper taxation of purchases. Responds to and resolves tax notices received from taxing jurisdictions
  • Assist with Diagnostax tool to monitor correct taxability with vendors. Other value-added projects, as assigned

The perfect person will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree with background in finance or accounting.
  • 1-3 years in tax or accounting with a minimum of two years’ transaction tax experience.
  • Strong accounting skills. Familiarity with tax principles and procedures, comprehension of subject matter pertaining to personal property tax, real property tax, sales & use tax, and/or unclaimed property.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Meets deadlines consistently and deals effectively with auditors.
  • Collaborative with strong oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Technical writing ability for drafting tax memoranda, responses to audits and notices, and file documentation.
  • Proactive with the ability to develop strong working relationships and maintain high ethical standards.
  • Able to understand and accurately interpret tax laws, rules and regulations

Some other nice to have’s:

  • SAP experience a plus.
  • Experience with a major corporation or large CPA firm preferred.
