We are looking for a Assistant Brand Manager who will support the Miracle-Gro Brand Marketing Team..

The Assistant Brand Manager (ABM) will support our live plants category on the Gardens Business Unit. The ABM will be responsible for helping the team compete in the live plants industry by 1.) developing and implementing marketing plans for retail channels, 2.) managing current and developing new relationships with leading brands and growers in the horticulture industry, and 3.) ensuring that all partners throughout the value chain win.  

In this role you will:

  • Lead product commercialization efforts for Miracle-Gro branded/co-branded live plants;
  • Lead creative development for all consumer touchpoints related to Miracle-Gro branded/co-branded live plants, including pots, tags, POP and online/ecommerce content;
  • Complete key business analyses including: marketplace/share, competitive assessment, volume builds, capacity assessment, promotion evaluation, SKU rationalization, pricing/sizing analysis, and market research analysis and implications;
  • Develop relationships with potential external partners, including retailers, to find common ground for partnering to create win/win outcomes;
  • Provide project management oversight to ensure coordination of internal and external teams to deliver projects on time and on budget;
  • Develop sales support materials for partner and customer meetings;
  • Support the development of brand standards for Miracle-Gro branded/co-branded live plants, including how the standards can be adapted across different partners to create unique programs;
  • Refine the live plants strategic roadmap to ensure sustainable growth across partners & retailers;
  • Manage project budgets to ensure delivery of brand EBITA and cash flow;
  • Help support the overall Gardens business strategic plan.

The perfect person will have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing;
  • 1-3 years of experience in brand/product management of escalating responsibility;
  • Strong interpersonal skills – ability to thrive in creating win/win solutions;
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including preparation and delivery of presentations;
  • Experience with creative development, especially for packaging, displays and other in-store consumer touch points;
  • Project management experience and proven ability to multitask;
  • High degree of ownership and initiative with a bias for action;
  • Strong leadership with the ability to effectively influence others to advance shared goals;
  • Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast paced environment;
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity;
  • Constant drive to always learn more and challenge current ways of working;
  • Demonstrates willingness to be flexible and adapt plans as internal/market dynamics change;
  • Operates with an entrepreneurial spirit with a willingness to champion new and different ideas even in the face of challenges;
  • Ability to relate projects to the broader gardens business and company-wide objectives.

Some other nice to haves:

  • Experience working with external partners to commercialize products (e.g., co-branding, joint ventures);
  • MBA;
  • Experience leading a cross-functional team - including R&D, Finance, Ecommerce, Sales, Business Development/Execution Teams, Consumer Insights and Brand;
  • Knowledge of live plants industry, retailers and influential players in category.
