We are looking for a Azure Architect, Technical Manager, who will join our Cloud Strategy team.

This position will be based at The Scotts Miracle-Gro world headquarters in Marysville, a suburb of Columbus, OH.  Not familiar with Columbus? Visit

As a Manager level associate, the Azure Architect will be a leader in partnering with our information technology vendors and the business to lead the definitions, designs, standards and guidelines for AWS/Azure based solutions. They will be driving new innovation to support the business while ensuring compliance to security and governance standards.

In this role you will:

  • Develop comprehensive plans to support new innovation for our cloud based efforts 

  • Develop and maintain AWS/Azure Cloud Architecture designs

  • Document architectural solutions per standards

  • Ensure compliance within technology standards

  • Participate in project and technology design reviews

  • Actively engage with key internal and external technology partners

  • Contribute to the development of future architectures

  • Analyze the impact of any new requirements on the existing solution

  • Estimation of efforts for issue-resolution and change requests

  • Guide and influence team members to accomplish the team’s technical and schedule goals

  • Lead efforts of automation to improve security and operational efficiencies

  • Partner with development teams on automation standards for improved Dev/Ops operations 

  • Identify/support tool selection/implementation within our Hybrid cloud environment

  • Act as level three SME support for priority production incidents

  • Ensure complete/accurate application dependency maps exist between our application stack 

  • Provide technical thought leadership and collaboration with other teams within IT

 The perfect person will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science or Management Information Systems

  • 6 – 10 years of Architecture  experience 

  • 1- 3 years AWS and/or Azure 

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills

  • Strong technical knowledge with core cloud services across Systems, Network, and Security platforms

  • Significant experience with Cloud and SaaS providers for secure infrastructure platform designs

  • Working knowledge of tools used for vulnerability management and security compliance

  • Working knowledge of infrastructure health monitoring tools and processes

  • Integrating  servers and applications with other critical infrastructure components such as load balancers, reverse proxies, firewalls, IDS, SSO, and IAM

  • Proficient in technical documentation 

  • ITIL or ITSM certifications preferred.
