We are looking for a Brand Manager who will grow at our Corporate Office, Marysville, Ohio.

This position will be based at The Scotts Miracle-Gro world headquarters in Marysville, a suburb of Columbus, OH.  Not familiar with Columbus? Visit

A successful Brand Manager has the desire to “own” a prestigious national brand, for example, Scotts, Roundup, Miracle-Gro, Ortho, etc.  Our Brand Managers are responsible for annual marketing plans, including forecasting, new products, media/advertising, consumer promotions, merchandising, and public relations. Implementing and developing a comprehensive and strategic plan to drive profitability for the brand is the goal.

In this role you will:

  • Able to interact with confidence and influence other functions within Scotts to deliver against project objectives;
  • Successfully develops and coaches Assistant Brand Managers;
  • Manages key areas that directly influence the success of the business: shipment analysis and forecasting; inventory levels, packaging, point of sale, and sales collateral materials;
  • Complete key business analyses including: marketplace/share, competitive assessment, volume builds, capacity assessment, promotion evaluation, SKU rationalization, pricing/sizing analysis, and market research analysis and implications;
  • Develop an objective process to evaluate go-forward options, including financial, supply chain and overall business implications;
  • Provide oversight and direction to a team including product planning, pricing, and discontinuations;
  • Develop strategic channel roadmap for multi-year sustainable growth;
  • Effectively manage brand budgets and brand EBITA.

The perfect person will have:

  • 5+ years of experience in brand management of escalating responsibility;
  • Knowledge of industry, retailers and influential players in the category;
  • Demonstrated ability to build a successful business plan & gain buy-in with senior leadership, including Brand;
  • Demonstrated ability to both paint a vision – as well as ability to roll-up sleeves and get hands dirty to make things happen;
  • Experience leading a "virtual team" - Works in conjunction with cross-functional team, including Pricing & Analytics, Sales, Business Execution Team, Consumer Insights and Brand;
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage project budgets;
  • Experience managing and developing team members;
  • Strong interpersonal skills – Ability to thrive in creating win/win solutions;
  • Bias for action – results-driven individual;
  • Collaborative mindset- ability to energize and activate plans across team members;
  • Strong influencing skills;
  • High degree of ownership and initiative;
  • Ability to thrive in a very fast paced environment;

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including preparation and delivery of presentations;

  • Demonstrated skills in managing multiple projects, coordinating across multiple disciplines and teams, delivering successfully to challenging deadlines;
  • Experience coaching and developing a direct report(s).
