We are looking for an Brand Manager who will join our Brand Marketing, Gardens team.

 The Brand Manager role will support the Brand Vice President in managing strategic initiatives for the Gardens portfolio to drive profitable growth.

 In this role you will:

  • Help shape and support the overall Gardens strategic business plan.
  • Leverage research and insights to identify growth opportunities for the Mulch business.
  • Build and lead execution of elements of the Mulch marketing plan.
  • Understand the strategies and requirements of existing retail customers to inform go-forward plans.
  • Lead team to identify and drive channel de-conflict strategy across the entire Gardens business - immediate focus on the soils, mulch and plant food segments with future expansion into additional adjacent segments such as indoor growing and key Gardens strategic partnerships to provide new distribution outlets for our products.  
  • Provide thought leadership to the cross-functional team regarding all aspects of the channel and de-conflict strategy, including but not limited to: product, branding, pricing, promotional, selling and distribution.
  • Work closely with the Sales Leadership and Business Execution Team (BET) to socialize and ensure strategic alignment to the plan; Assist the BET team in overseeing plan implementation by Corporate and Field-based Sales teams.
  • Develop an objective process to evaluate go-forward options, including financial, supply chain and overall business implications.
  • Provide oversight and direction to team including product planning, pricing, and discontinuations.
  • Develop strategic channel roadmap for multi-year sustainable growth.
  • Recommend best practices for building a sustainable channel de-conflict model.
  • Develop business plans to win in our "INAT" channel, including products, programs, and promotions.
  • Identify new retailer partners and opportunities outside our traditional accounts to help advance the Gardens vision and drive business growth.
  • Develop a systematic process and financial model for evaluating new opportunities.
  • Develop and coach direct report(s).

The perfect person will have:

  • 5+ years of experience in brand management of escalating responsibility.
  • Knowledge of industry, retailers and influential players in category.
  • Demonstrated ability to build a successful business plan & gain buy-in with senior leadership, including Brand and BDT leads.
  • Demonstrated ability to both paint a vision – as well as ability to roll-up sleeves and get hands dirty to make things happen.
  • Experience leading a "virtual team" - Works in conjunction with cross-functional team, including Pricing & Analytics, Sales, Business Execution Team, Consumer Insights and Brand.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage project budgets.
  • Experience managing and developing team members.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – ability to thrive in creating win/win solutions.
