We are looking for a Business Development Manager  who will join our National Account Team supporting our Hardware accounts (Ace Hardware, True Value, & Do-it-Best).

The Hardware Business Development Manager will be responsible for developing all Scotts Business Groups annual sales/marketing programs at customers assigned to the Hardware BDT (Ace Hardware, True Value & Do-it-Best). The Hardware Business Development Manager must exercise outstanding sales skills and forecasting ability plus the ability to develop, coordinate, communicate, and implement complex "Plans of Action" for retailers either purchasing direct from The Scotts Company or purchasing through the co-op warehouses.

This individual will develop and use sound Account Base Business Planning to ensure achievement of goals. They must be able to establish positive relationships and communication with key decision-makers at customers. In these accounts, the Hardware Business Development Manager works with applicable parties to plan and execute all facets of advertising, merchandising, special promotions and sales training.

In this role you will:

  • Manage day to day business with merchants and assistant merchants
  • Forecast and analyze drop ship business, DC  Business, and POS by sku, by month and by account
  • Manage inside sales representatives
  • Liaisons between corporate accounts and field sales team
  • Work directly with brand teams on category leadership and new item penetration and initiatives
  • Operate and manage customer trade shows
  • Plan and execute yearly customer promotional and in-store programs and events
  • Point contact for hardware member communications
  • Partner with shopper marketing to develop advertising and media programs
  • Budget and effectively spend trade funds
  • Prepare and present category line reviews as needed at all three coops.
  • Conduct yearly full category and seasonal reviews with all hardware accounts
  • Develops and effectively sells and gains support for annual account listings, programs, promotional plans and annual merchandising agreements with all accounts, maximizing each accounts sales potential.
  • Maintains good administrative practices in terms of prompt and accurate submission of reports and maintenance of records and presentations.

The perfect person will have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 3-5 years successful sales experience
  • Knowledge of retailing activity such as developing and implementing advertising plans, account programs and merchandising tactics
  • Knowledge of co-op partners including benefits, key players and distribution model.
  • Demonstrate ability to penetrate accounts at all levels required to maximize sales potential
  • Demonstrated ability to create, sell and implement plans for each account to meet their unique market needs.
  • Ability to successfully develop cross-functional relationships at all levels of both companies.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle a great deal of communications internally and with various customers.
  • Ability to create a strategic business plan to address the specific requirements of each key account.
  • Ability to analyze data
