We are looking for a Computer Operations Engineer, Senior Analyst to join the Business Transformation group at our Corporate Headquarters.

The Computer Operations Engineer, Senior Analyst will partner with all areas of BT and the business to support software installation, configuration, and administration of middleware and related underlying systems in a secure environment.  The role includes both day-to-day operational support of the SMG computing environment and related platforms, as well as project support. The ideal candidate creates, maintains, and owns infrastructure related technical specifications, designs, and schedules.

In this role you will:

  • Coordinating infrastructure activity to address corporate computing needs. This would include identifying and acquiring resources to meet the needs of projects and applications.

  • Providing technical support for spool output management - administering, configuring and troubleshooting printer and printing issues.

  • Supporting systems  applications and services such as java, tomcat, email, printing, batch processing

  • Creating and maintaining shell (Bash, KSH) and PERL scripts.

  • Creation and maintenance of diagrams and documentation describing various aspects of the computing environment.

The perfect person will have:

  • BS/BA Computer Science, MIS or Computer Engineering preferred,  BS/BA in Engineering, Math, or Science required;

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with appropriate infrastructure platforms;

  • Minimum of two years of Windows experience in either academic or professional environments;

  • Technical knowledge with core infrastructure services across Systems, Network, and Security platforms;

  • Working knowledge of infrastructure health monitoring tools and processes;

  • Integrating servers and applications with other critical infrastructure components such as load balancers, reverse proxies, firewalls, IDS, SSO, and IAM;

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills;

  • Knowledge of project management concepts and deliverables;

  • Proficient in technical documentation;

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to operate as a member of a cohesive and productive team;

  • Good working knowledge on multiple operating systems i.e. Windows, Linux, including problem identification and resolution, configuration changes, patching, and adding and removing software.

  • Email Management, including Gmail, or Sendmail/Postfix;

  • Experience with spool output management support - setting up and troubleshooting printers in an SAP environment;

  • Experience with system and application monitoring, software distribution, patching and maintenance in a Windows or Linux environment;

  • Experience with common internet protocols and services including TCP, UDP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP, SSH, TFTP, NIS, LDAP & AD;

  • Robust troubleshooting and analytical skills;

  • Excellent communication, documentation and presentation skills for technical and business audiences;

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with rapidly changing priorities and requirements;

  • Strong desire to learn new material and accept new challenges.
