We are looking for a Continuous Improvement Manager (Supply Chain) who will join our Growing media team. This position will be based at The Scotts Miracle-Gro world headquarters in Marysville, a suburb of Columbus, OH.  Not familiar with Columbus? Visit columbusregion.com/columbus-2020/ 

The Continuous Improvement Manager (Supply Chain) will develop and lead the continuous improvement strategy across a network of 45+ manufacturing facilities throughout North America within our growing media group.  They will partner heavily with plant teams, regional leadership, and network leaders across supply chain, bringing leadership behaviors required to install, sustain, and scale the implementation of a high performing organization. Examples of this leadership include oversight of the efficiency improvement plans, waste reduction plans, and enabling project and capability building initiatives.

What you’ll do in this role:

  • Lead the Network wide process for development and deployment of the continuous improvement strategies, and overall plans.
  • Develop capability across the network as the primary contact for overall plans to deliver continuous improvement including leadership of the regional process engineering team.
  • Identify, design, and implement innovative continuous improvement initiatives and standards to improve plant production efficiencies and material overfill
  • Responsible for seeking reapplication opportunities from different sites and regions to support the evolution
  • Lead the process for establishing site continuous improvement efforts in an ongoing cadence of regular process checks to insure consistent application of standards and improvement plans are active and tied to business needs.
  • Champion efforts to drive out manufacturing variation by analyzing data, drawing conclusions, and leading implementation of appropriate short and long-term solutions
  • Manage efforts to maintain all equipment documentation including: Clean, Inspect Lube Standards, Process Centerlines, Maintenance Standards, troubleshooting guides and training material

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering or a related technical field
  • 5+ years of continuous improvement leadership experience in a high performance environment
  • Recognized technical abilities and practical experience with strong capabilities in the theory/functionality of manufacturing systems and unit operations
  • Continuous improvement techniques (Lean, TPM, Root Cause Analysis, Statistics, Quick Changeover/SMED, Process Centerlines) Certifications: Lean manufacturing, CI, TPM, Six Sigma a plus
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing multiple continuous improvement projects in a collaborative environment with a solid record of leading change and delivering results
  • Exceptional ability to build and maintain relationships across a network of sites and corporate support functions
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, communications, organization, resource management, and technology utilization skills
