The EH&S Coordinator is a key part of the management team. In this role, you are responsible for: 

  • Coordinating Environmental, Health & Safety initiatives in St. Margarets and Eel River

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant national, provincial, industry, corporate and site-specific policies and regulations.

  • Training and retraining of associates, as required.

  • Development and implementation of pre-production on-boarding sessions

  • Performing safety orientation for new employees and contractors.

  • Maintaining employee training matrix and validate effectiveness of training.

  • Ensure contractors have valid WorksafeNB Clearance Certificates

  • Managing action plans stemming from various inspections and audits.

  • Reporting and investigating accidents and near misses, with an emphasis on finding the true root cause(s)

  • Participating in Joint Health & Safety Committee.

  • Maintaining a suitable inventory of Personal Protective Equipment and related supplies.

  • Participating in various audits and inspections.

  • Arranging for disposal and tracking of waste (hazardous, universal and general)

  • Arranging for service and inspection of various environmental, site and personal protection devices.

  • Fostering a team environment and ensuring positive associate relations in a unionized environment.

  • Assisting foremen,supervisors and/or Site Manager in maintaining a safe working environment.

  • Participating in progressive discipline proceedings, as necessary.

  • Adapting to changes in a fast-paced working environment.

  • Working closely with site management, Human Resources and various corporate functions.

Some travel may be required and there is a possibility that you may have to support other sites in some situations.Hours of work are typically 7:00AM to 5:00PM, Monday to Friday. It may be necessary to occasionally come in early or stay late, especially during peak production, or when an accident occurs. Shorter hours can be expected during non-production seasonYou will be provided with a company-issued smartphone and laptop computer, with the expectation that you maintain some degree of connectivity, especially during production season, on a rotating basis with other management staff
