We are looking to recruit an experienced Corporate Strategy and Execution, Director who will join our Strategy Team.

The Corporate Strategy and Execution, Director will deliver value to Scotts Miracle-Gro by leading key company initiatives and delivering measurable results.  This Director-level position will have a wide range of responsibilities including facilitating strategic planning processes, conducting market and competitive research (including field research) and summarizing results in a clear and concise manner, analyzing data and building market models, managing and developing high performing team, leading and managing the Company’s top initiatives.

 

This is a key role in our Strategy Team, and we are looking for a high-performing, experienced candidate who can make a significant and immediate contribution to the team.

 

In this role you will:

 

  • Lead a wide range of high visibility projects in order to answer urgent strategic questions from C-level executives.

  • Manage a team of high performers to complete both ad hoc projects and recurring market and competitive research tasks.

  • Lead and manage cross-functional project teams.

  • Create presentations to effectively communicate the results of the team’s research and analysis to the Executive Leadership Team.

  • Implement strategic recommendations alongside business unit leads in order to push forward strategic initiatives.

  • Work with senior executives and the business units to identify and define initiatives that support the corporate / business unit strategy.

  • Provide strategic input and contribute to the design and integration of potential corporate development opportunities.

  • Manage the performance of direct reports.

  • Provide guidance, mentoring, training, and support to team members to develop a solid pipeline of succession candidates.

 

The perfect person will have:

  • Experience working for a management/strategic consulting firm.

  • Solid track record executing at a high level as an individual contributor and then holding positions of increasing responsibility in leading and managing the following areas:

    • Strategic Planning - ability to think strategically and plan effectively including experience in developing long-term business strategies and plans

    • Stakeholder Communication - superior verbal and written communication skills - including the ability to build presentations to communicate complex topics in straightforward ways.  Strong presence, poise, and persuasiveness to quickly establish a high level of credibility at all levels.

    • Project Management - demonstrated experience organizing, planning, and managing high-priority projects from concept through implementation

    • Market and Competitive Research and Analysis - powerful intellect and analytical skills - demonstrated the ability to drive to second-order insights. Figure something out, then ask ‘why’ and keep pushing to find something that is not anticipated/not explicitly in scope but drives significant value in the research

  • A desire and comfort in working in a changing, fluid, ambiguous environment.

  • Ability to meet aggressive deadlines.

  • IQ/EQ balance that will enable growth into senior roles.

  • Ability to work in a collaborative, open work environment.

  • Advanced degree such as a top-tier MBA a plus.
