ScottsMiracle-Gro is looking for a Digital Intelligence & Communications Manager to energize, grow and optimize our online communications. Want to help us inspire and win over and deepen our connection with public audiences? You’re in the right place.  As a member of the Corporate Affairs team, you will be responsible for driving digital engagement, website traffic and audience growth. You will help us to reach core corporate audiences including millennials, policymakers, community leaders with the messaging and touchpoints that resonate with and matter to them.

This role will be responsible for evolving our corporate brand strategy across digital channels including social media. You will create and lead corporate outreach campaigns to targeted digital audiences and define how to build and share our corporate stories. A passion for content creation, social listening, analytics and community management are “must haves”. You will plan, coordinate, implement and measure our digital storytelling efforts.

Day to day

Corporate Digital Outreach  & Media Intelligence

  • Drive corporate promotions and content strategy across channels, including social media, corporate newsroom, digital advertising - both paid and owned.

  • Use analytics to assess and report on the outcome and effectiveness of each campaign

  • Digital support for grassroots advocacy and coordination our Government Relations team to support issue campaigns, policy actions, public education, awareness and mobilization. 

  • ​Conduct ongoing media monitoring – both traditional and social – to uncove​r ​industry insights and trends, capture relevant issues coverage and highlight news from SMG and its ecosystem. This will include ​daily “Hot Topic” monitoring​, and weekly reporting.

Community Management

  • Manage native and paid editorial calendars and creating content for social media channels around corporate initiatives, events, news, and timely topics. 

  • Serve as community manager for corporate social media accounts including Facebook and Instagram.

  • Social listening to monitor for incoming comments/DMs and take a hands on approach to coordinating replies; use listening to support issues and crisis management.

  • Partner with our Corporate and Brand teams to extend the impact of existing Corporate Social Responsibility programs.

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Bachelors Degree required (Preferred degree in liberal arts, communication,marketing or other applicable disciplines)

  • 7+ years of digital outreach or marketing experience 

  • Experience with social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube etc.) and related digital tools

  • Demonstrated ability to drive growth and engagement on social media platforms

  • Exceptional content creator from ideation to execution

  • A strong point of view for what resonates 

  • Data driven with solid understanding of key social media metrics and experience measuring, analyzing and optimizing performance

  • Confident platform expert who is well versed in current, relevant and industry innovations – the “latest and greatest”

  • First-hand experienced with social media publishing and analytics tools

  • Familiarity with basic content creation and editing tools 

  • Experience with principles of SEO and best practices for web writing and presence

  • Strong at communicating a vision, plan and action items in presentations to cross-functional teammates

  • Flexible operator; adapting/optimizing plans and outcomes as you go to ensure the greatest possible results

Some other nice to haves:

  • Experience working with vendor and agency partners

  • Interest in public policy and cause-related platforms 

  • Skilled with Google Analytics.
