We are looking for an E-commerce Development Manager who will join our Digital Marketing team.

The E-commerce Development Manager will lead a team of software engineers and manage vendors in delivery roles that support the needs of our DTC platform across multiple brands, programs, and channels.  The ideal candidate for this position will have a deep understanding and hands-on experience in the software development, consumer experience and technical architecture required to build highly scalable and secure DTC systems.  

This person will be a strategic member of the Digital Marketing team, managing the core front- and back-end development team responsible for our Direct To Consumer (DTC) platform. The scale and sustainability of this platform is a key component of our DTC strategy.

In this role you will:

  • Lead and develop the team responsible for the development of the company’s DTC technology solution;

  • Actively contribute to the development of evidence-based technology strategies that align with both long-term and near-term stakeholder requirements, company initiatives, and qualitative and quantitative research findings;

  • Actively collaborate with other members of the Digital Marketing team to build roadmaps, prioritize initiatives and manage support issues;

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge of the industry and the DTC platforms that underpin our consumer-facing platform and internal ecosystem;

  • Drive agile process and stakeholder meetings; providing accurate estimates on user stories and strategic priorities;

  • Ensure extensibility, performance, and scalability of the DTC platform;

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes to eliminate waste and reduce technical debt;

  • Manage third party development resources that assist in new projects or staff augmentation as needed;

  • Work with Information Security to ensure PCI Level 2/3, SOX, and SOC 2 compliance; and

  • Advocate for the continuous improvement of digital solutions.

The perfect person will have:

  • Proven work experience and prior success in leading the development of an enterprise-scale DTC solution;

  • Deep technical knowledge with a variety of DTC platforms (Magento 2, Magento 1 and Shopify, in particular) as well as the enterprise ecosystems that enable those DTC experiences (including SAP, and a variety of PIM and DAM platforms);

  • 7-10 years of software development experience, at least 3 years managing a high-functioning Agile team;

  • Prior success as the key technology contributor to a cross-functional DTC team (marketing, sales, supply chain, IT);

  • A natural ability to think strategically and plan effectively including experience in developing long-term business technology strategies and plans;

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to effectively express complex concepts in simple business terms across all levels of the organization;

  • Comfortable and flexible with changing priorities, high levels of ambiguity, and non-routine issues;

  • Experience and success in interviewing, hiring, coaching and developing talent;

  • Confidence and integrity to earn internal team trust quickly;

  • Bachelor's Degree or advanced degree in Computer Science, HCI, or related fields;

  • PMP, PMI-PBA, or PgMP certification or training from PMI or a similar, related, group;

  • Experience with PCI Level 2/3, SOX, and SOC 2 compliance;

  • Experience with the technical aspects of site speed and SEO;

  • Experience with Agile and Lean process and methodologies;

  • Familiarity with supply chain management and fulfillment;

  • Familiarity with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1;

  • Familiarity with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR); and

  • Flexibility in working with a cross-functional team of designers, developers, editors, and content creators.
