We are looking for a Electrical Controls Engineer/Technician who will grow at our Operations facility in Marysville, Ohio.

The Electrical Controls Engineer/Technician will be responsible for providing direction and be able to execute the programming for, installation of, and technical troubleshooting support of PLC ladder-logic based hardware and software applications throughout the plant. The candidate should have skills with Allen Bradley Controls hardware, WonderWare, AutoCad and Ethernet devices.

Typical work may include but is not limited to:

  • Troubleshoot, repair and install electrical and electronic equipment and instrumentation.
  • Configure, scale and validate instrumentation using Laptop Computer, HART communicator, or other appropriate test equipment.
  • Restore and modify Allen Bradley (Control Logix, Compact Logix, PLC-5) PLC programs and verify correct software revisions/editions.
  • Restore, modify and establish Allen Bradley VFD parameters via HIM, Ethernet, USB, etc using software or manually installing values.
  • Maintain programmable logic controller (PLC) backup files using state of the art software and maintain/catalog these backups for support. Interpret electrical and electronic symbols and their functions as they pertain to electrical drawings/schematics.
  • Read interpret and update Allen Bradley PLC ladder programs, connect Laptop Computer to PLC via network protocols (serial, DH485, DH+, E-net, C-net, D-net, RS-485, RS-232, etc.).
  • Read, interpret and update electrical blueprints, schematics and flow diagrams.
  • Experience with new equipment installations
  • Maintain records applicable to the job. Use CMMS to obtain spare parts, retrieve work orders and generate new work orders. Assume responsibility for signing out spare parts and completing repair tags.
  • Work with planner to implement PM schedules and spare parts requirements for equipment.
  • Communicate with outside contractors and vendors to identify necessary repairs and to oversee projects.
  • Record maintenance activities, develop and execute job plans, and communicate new procedures used in troubleshooting.
  • Provide leadership and serve as a technical resource to associates training in the electrical discipline.
  • Perform work audits for self and other associates.
  • Comply with housekeeping and safety rules.
  • Provide direction and be able to execute the programming for, installation of, and technical troubleshooting support of PLC ladder-logic based hardware and software applications throughout the plant
  • Provide controls and systems engineering support for emergency and unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production peak and off-peak run times as needed.
  • Assist with and provide guidance for the compliance of plant safety regulations such as (Arch Flash Electrical Safety- NFPA-70E; LOTO, Energized Work Permits, Safe Cell Entry).
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, machinery assembly drawings, create component hardware BOMs, and determine additional system/hardware components for the design of electrical control systems and circuitry diagrams to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Diagnose process and machinery problems utilizing root cause failure analysis techniques, replace or repair equipment parts, test and make adjustments as required
  • Perform related maintenance duties as required. 

The perfect person will have:

  • Associates degree or equivalent. Prefer technical certification in electronics or electrical maintenance
  • 5 plus years in manufacturing or industrial maintenance, equipment repair or electronics.
  • Load Cells, Flow Meters, Actuators, Filling equipment, Robots, Palletizers, Pneumatics, RTD’s, HART, Pumps, VFD’s 

Some other nice to haves:

  • Requires excellent problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Strong skills in ladder logic, preferably Allen-Bradley Systems; PLC5, SLC and ControLogix 5000, Stuido 5000.
  • Strong Skills in HMI Design, Preferably Wonder Ware and FactoryTalk View ME/SE.
  • Strong Skills in Ethernet/IP and basic networking applications and practices.
  • Work with cross functional groups, as well as work effectively with Plant Engineers and Maintenance Supervisors to complete projects on time and within schedule.
  • Design, develop, and streamline various aspects of electrical controls systems, general electrical circuitry, in the plant with use of AutoCAD.
  • Able to operate electrical, electronic and pneumatic test equipment
  • Personal computer skills and experience with SAP is a plus.
  • Ability to walk up 10 flights of stairs with tools. Ability to lift 75 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, bend, twist, climb and lift for the duration of the shift.
  • Mechanical Maintenance experience helpful
