We’re looking for an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Intern who will join our group in Marysville, OH!

This position will be based at The Scotts Miracle-Gro world headquarters in Marysville, a suburb of Columbus, OH.  Not familiar with Columbus? Visit columbusregion.com/columbus-2020/

Our internship program is designed to cultivate the professional growth of students through a dynamic work environment. Over the course of 12 weeks you will work on meaningful projects and have opportunities to learn from industry leaders. You will work with our corporate team for 6 weeks and with our manufacturing facility (also in Marysville) for 6 weeks which will give you a great overview of EHS at different levels of an organization.  We are committed to your development but will also rely on you to bring new knowledge, new ideas and innovation into our organization. 

What you’ll do in this role:


  • Standard operating procedure standardization and organization

  • Creation and organization of EHS training and documentation

  • Help create EHS awareness/connectivity via use of digital EHS platforms

  • Assist with data analysis as part of the EHS audit program

Manufacturing Plant

  • Assist with compiling tabular inventory of all air pollution control equipment, as well as populating variables of each.  Will include ground-truthing what equipment is still present, and gathering data on each unit. Assist in facilitating, organizing, and respond to engineering studies and other action items on each system.

  • Assist with compiling emission sources where diagnostic testing is to be performed, assist third-party company with data collection during testing as well as keeping data organized in a tabular form to keep track of what testing was done and any required follow-ups

  • Assist with the preparation and submittal of environmental permit reporting obligations.

  • Assist with identifying and responding to environmental concerns including conducting root-cause analyses as well as corrective actions.

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Be enrolled in an accredited college, university or trade school. 

  • Possess strong analytical and leadership skills.

  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication.

  • Prioritize collaboration and problem solving. 

  • Manage multiple tasks and is detailed-oriented. 

  • Have prior internship experience (preferred but not required).
