If you enjoy a fast-paced, high energy manufacturing environment then you will fit in well as a Fleet Supervisor for Scotts Miracle-Gro. We’re creating a private fleet of Scotts drivers and you will be an integral part of hiring, managing and building the team from the ground up. On a day-to-day basis, you will manage 12 drivers, work with our team of dispatchers and ensure Scotts products arrive on time at their end destination.

In this role you will:

  • Manage drivers’ performance and take proper corrective action as needed.
  • Manage key performance indicators ensuring optimum driver/unit performance to include driver turnover, revenue per mile, tractor/trailer utilization and reduction of empty miles
  • Build positive relationships with drivers to best maximize retention levels and increase on-time delivery percentages.
  • Confirm that each driver has an adequate understanding of all customer and company expectations on each load at the point of dispatch.
  • Maintain all of the vehicle registration and equipment maintenance.
  • Manage the transportation budget and monthly forecast.
  • Provide support and tools necessary to aid in execution of all freight movements.
  • Foster a safe working environment in total compliance with all regulations as it relates to DOT and FMSCA.
  • Support manufacturing and distribution center requirements for continued operation.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely preparation, distribution, and retention of necessary reports.

The perfect person will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.
  • Current Class A CDL.
  • 3-5 years of experience in operations and logistics.
  • Demonstrated people and leadership skills with a record of achieving positive business results.
  • Effective communication, coaching, facilitation, presentation and team
  • Experience with safety and employee development training programs.
  • Proven success in problem resolution.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings and/or weekends.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal teams and external partners to achieve common goals.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high intensity environment.


Some other nice to have’s:

  • TMS/SAP experience
