We are looking for a Group Leader – Controls Engineering Technician who will join our team in Marysville,OH

What you’ll do in this role:

  • Responsible and accountable for the execution of maintenance goals and objectives for Cost/Productivity, Quality, Customer Service/Downtime and Associate Resources.
  • Timely issue of daily verbal and written reports.
  • Leads by direct communication with controls engineers in his/her group.  This includes planning, coordinating and directing work activities within the group.  Identifies problems and initiates corrective action.
  • Monitors associate in proper job performance and safety requirements, assigns work and tracks progress, evaluates employee performance, and provides appropriate follow-up and coaching.
  • Able to obtain detailed information on parts for the scheduler or supervisor to procure and estimate the time required accomplishing unscheduled and scheduled work within group.
  • Assists supervisor in analyzing operations, and developing, initiating, and executing specific programs.
  • Responsible to have a thorough knowledge of the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and training all associates within the group on CMMS and ensuring that they all have a thorough knowledge of the system and are utilizing it to their maximum ability.
  • Maintains records applicable to the job, performs related duties as assigned and keeps work area in a neat and orderly condition.

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Managing Control System project implementation related to new or existing process equipment.
  • Leading the overall activities of the Controls Engineers with in the maintenance department by providing technical training and supervision over plant related equipment integration or process changes to existing plant controls and PLC logic.
  • Develop standards for process control systems to be utilized on new equipment development or existing equipment upgrades.
  • Troubleshoot, repair and install electrical and electronic equipment and instrumentation.
  • Configure, scale and validate instrumentation using Laptop Computer, HART communicator, or other appropriate test equipment.
  • Restore and modify Allen Bradley (Control Logix, Compact Logix, PLC-5) PLC programs and verify correct software revisions/editions.
  • Restore, modify and establish Allen Bradley VFD parameters via HIM, Ethernet, USB, etc using software or manually installing values.
  • Maintain programmable logic controller (PLC) backup files using state of the art software and maintain/catalog these backups for support. Interpret electrical and electronic symbols and their functions as they pertain to electrical drawings/schematics.
  • Read interpret and update Allen Bradley PLC ladder programs, connect Laptop Computer to PLC via network protocols (serial, DH485, DH+, E-net, C-net, D-net, RS-485, RS-232, etc.).
  • Read, interpret and update electrical blueprints, schematics and flow diagrams.
  • Experience with new equipment installations
  • Maintain records applicable to the job. Use CMMS to obtain spare parts, retrieve work orders and generate new work orders. Assume responsibility for signing out spare parts and completing repair tags.
  • Work with planner to implement PM schedules and spare parts requirements for equipment.
  • Communicate with outside contractors and vendors to identify necessary repairs and to oversee projects.
  • Record maintenance activities, develop and execute job plans, and communicate new procedures used in troubleshooting.
  • Provide leadership and serve as a technical resource to associates training in the electrical discipline.
  • Perform work audits for self and other associates.
  • Comply with housekeeping and safety rules.
  • Provide direction and be able to execute the programming for, installation of, and technical troubleshooting support of PLC ladder-logic based hardware and software applications throughout the plant
  • Provide controls and systems engineering support for emergency and unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production peak and off-peak run times as needed.
  • Assist with and provide guidance for the compliance of plant safety regulations such as (Arch Flash Electrical Safety- NFPA-70E; LOTO, Energized Work Permits, Safe Cell Entry).
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, machinery assembly drawings, create component hardware BOMs, and determine additional system/hardware components for the design of electrical control systems and circuitry diagrams to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Diagnose process and machinery problems utilizing root cause failure analysis techniques, replace or repair equipment parts, test and make adjustments as required
