General Summary

The Shipping Group Leader is responsible for all aspects of their shift as well as working with other departments and shifts to promote a safe, productive environment as it pertains to the Distribution Center. This individual should be self-motivated leader who will help set expectations for the shipping office and be responsible for their results. This individual will help lead six individuals consisting of full time associates, as well as temporary associates three shifts.

The Shipping Group Leader will route orders, prepare stop off loads, and tender to carriers. They will coordinate loading schedule with the trucking companies for all domestic and international shipments from the Marysville Distribution Centers. Prepares all necessary paperwork and export documentation. Works closely with the shift supervisors to ensure on time shipments. Effectively communicates with all pertinent parties in regards to shipping activities. Support the Shipping Office Supervisor as well as continue to develop the Shipping associates across all three shifts.

Key Work Performed

• Build loading schedule in accordance with customer requirements

• Ensure customer shipping schedule is obtained as well as review the following shifts and lend help when needed

• Prepares all necessary paperwork as is relates to shipping orders i.e. BOL, picking tickets, master BOL, export documents, supply vs demand reports, etc.

• Works with Customer Service and National Account to ensure all orders are shipped on a timely basis

• Coordinates special order for on time arrival.

• Coordinates all Customer Pick up orders from Marysville Distribution Centers

• Train and enforce operating SOP’s/procedures abided by as well mentor associates

• Report missed loads to customer FOB vendors as well internally to traffic team

• Ensure a safe and organized work area

• Work with returns coordinator on processing returns

• Communication daily to team or carriers as need arise

• Utilize SAP to monitor inventory and quality; make adjustments when required

• Ensure a safe and compliant work area

• All other duties as required

Minimum Requirements


• High School Diploma or Equivalent

• Bachelors degree preferred


• Warehousing experience preferred


• Basic understanding of distribution, transportation, and freight routing.

• Basic understanding of inventory control.

• Computer skills including, but not limited to, MicroSoft Excel, Word, and Powerpoint

• SAP knowledge a plus

Skills and Abilities:

• Strong leadership skills

• Effective communication and time management

• Ability to adapt to flexible work schedule and/or hours

• Ability to work weekends during busy season if needed or when required

• Ability to work well with other associates (teamwork)

• Strong administrative and planning skills

• Maintain high standard of confidentiality and integrity

• Position entails repetitive motion of standing, twisting, stooping, kneeling, squatting, bending, climbing, reaching overhead and arms/hands dexterity

• Ability to lift a minimum of 70 lbs.
