This position will be based at The Scotts Miracle-Gro Chemical Plant in Marysville, a suburb of Columbus, OH.  Not familiar with Columbus? Visit columbusregion.com/columbus-2020/

 

What you'll do in this role:

  • Primary responsibility is to help assure that the process department operates efficiently and safely while producing a quality product. 

  • Follows all safety procedures and promotes good safety practices.

  • Under the direction of the production coach, help provide leadership to the process department: shift assignments; break scheduling/relief, product quality, company and departmental policies, production goals, OT policy support, etc.

  • Investigate and help solve operational problems: equipment operation, product availability, warehouse support, maintenance needs, technician performance issues, product quality, etc.

  • Monitor/control housekeeping efforts and overall appearance of department.

  • Interface with SAP/computer systems: daily data entry/inventory adjustments, bag and bulk totals, etc.

  • Serve as back up operator in all areas as needed.

  • Helps assure that all process operators are accurately completing system checks, equipment logs and check sheets. 

  • Coordinates and performs start-ups/shut-downs, preventative maintenance and system clean up.

  • Provide overall direction in absence of coach.

  • Communicates with maintenance department on equipment issues and helps establish priorities.

  • Assures that environmental audits are completed and procedures are appropriately followed: dust collector checks, maintenance work order requests, dust bins/labeling, etc.

  • Completes shift change communications with other group leaders

  • Special project or other duties as assigned.

What you'll need to be successful:

  • Ability to lift 70 pounds.

  • Position entails prolonged and repetitive motion of sitting, standing, twisting, stooping, kneeling, squatting, bending, climbing, reaching overhead and arms/hands dexterity.

  • Ability to make decisions and direct the process associates in a successful and professional manner. Adheres to all company policies.

  • Strong communication both verbal and written.

  • Maintains a positive attitude, promotes teamwork and accepts challenges.

  • Imposes acceptable system performance standards.

  • Must have an acceptable tardy and absenteeism rate (less than 2%), and have not received any form of discipline in the last twelve months.

  • Minimum of two years in process department with existing equipment would be preferred but not required.

  • Promotes safety awareness and has a proven track record of safe behavior.  Ability to conduct dust and scrap bin controls/labeling. Ability to make sound judgements in regard to associate’s safety.

  • Knowledge of all process systems and can operate/troubleshoot all process equipment in a safe and efficient manner. 
  • Computer literate (Excel, Word, MSDA Center & SAP) and able to learn/perform computer functions as required by SAP and other software programs.
  • Maintains a valid forklift driver’s license.
