We're looking for a Process Engineering Intern who will join our manufacturing team in Marysville, OH.

This position will be based at The Scotts Miracle-Gro world headquarters in Marysville, a suburb of Columbus, OH.  Not familiar with Columbus? Visit columbusregion.com/columbus-2020/

Our internship program is designed to cultivate the professional growth of students through a dynamic work environment. Over the course of 12 weeks you will work on meaningful projects and have opportunities to learn from industry leaders. We are committed to your development but will also rely on you to bring new knowledge, new ideas and innovation into our organization.

The position will report to the Marysville Manufacturing Operations Department. The assignment will involve providing technical assistance for various process development programs in Continuous Improvement, Environmental, and Preventative Maintenance.  The successful candidate should feel comfortable working in a hands-on industrial environment and receiving project direction from supervisors, engineers, and managers. 

What you’ll do in this role:

  • Applying engineering principles to real world situations

  • Managing and Implementing projects within a manufacturing facility

  • Preparing and analyzing plant performance metrics

  • Creating and distributing run packets and theoretical workbooks for production runs

  • Investigating operating conditions to determine root cause of equipment downtime and failures

  • Gathering and analyzing data to make recommendations for process improvements to operators and management

  • Planning and conducting experimentation in laboratory and plant settings

  • Preparing for and assisting R&D during full scale plant trials

  • Preparing written justification for approval of capital projects.

  • Developing, writing, and training on standard operating procedures

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Be enrolled in an accredited college, university or trade school. 

  • Possess strong analytical and leadership skills.

  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication.

  • Prioritize collaboration and problem solving. 

  • Manage multiple tasks and is detailed-oriented. 

  • Have prior internship experience (preferred but not required).
