The web development team works with Digital Marketing in developing and maintaining web sites that reflect marketing requirements including eCommerce initiatives.  In this role, the Web Development Intern will be assigned tasks involved in improving the management for product websites, including and   Scotts Miracle-Gro is proud to offer a paid summer internship for application developers currently in enrolled in college.

Position Summary:

Tasks for this position  include documentation of site functionality and coding tasks as deemed appropriate by the eBusiness team.  The intern will review code, debug problems, develop documentation and execute the final deliverable plan. Experience with structured design, object-oriented development and implementation of web technologies is a plus.


  • Develop web solutions using PHP that satisfy business requirements.

  • Participate in Quality Assurance testing, insuring successful production releases

  • Help with documentation of the web sites’ functional components.

  • Update content on consumer facing websites using HTML and CSS.  Changes will be made per business direction using the CMS tool for the site.

  • Work independently providing quality coding projects as assigned, using standard coding practices.


  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field

  • Conceptual knowledge of development technologies in a web environment such as HTML, CSS, JQuery, Magento, Drupal, PHP, etc.   

  • Experience with Object Oriented programming and debugging

  • Knowledge of SQL and database concepts

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

The work environment is typically in the office setting, but may require some field work as directed.
