Job Description

We are looking for a Lead Maintenance Operator who will join our Growing Media team in Marysville, OH.

Typical work may include but is not limited to:

  • Responsible and accountable for the execution of maintenance goals and objectives for Cost/Productivity, Quality, Customer Service/Downtime and Associate Resources.
  • Timely issue of daily verbal and written reports.
  • Leads by direct communication with mechanics and electricians in his/her group. This includes planning, coordinating and directing work activities within the group. Identifies problems and initiates corrective action.
  • Under the direction of the supervisor, will help provide leadership to the maintenance department: shift assignments; break scheduling/relief, company and departmental policies, and OT policy support, etc.
  • Monitors associate in proper job performance and safety requirements, assigns work and tracks progress, evaluates employee performance, and provides appropriate follow-up and coaching.
  • Communicates and monitors safety and housekeeping programs and procedures.
  • Able to obtain detailed information on parts for the scheduler or supervisor to procure and estimate the time required accomplishing unscheduled and scheduled work within group.
  • Assists supervisor in analyzing operations, and developing, initiating, and executing specific programs.
  • Performs maintenance work orders on the schedule.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and training all associates within the group on CMMS and ensuring that they all have a through knowledge of the system and are utilizing it to their maximum ability.
  • Maintains records applicable to the job, performs related duties as assigned and keeps work area in a neat and orderly condition.
  • Will take on the responsibility of the supervisor in his/her absence.

Physical Qualifications:

  • Ability to lift 70 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, bend, twist, climb and lift for the duration of the shift.

The perfect person will have:

  • Knowledge of safety practices and procedures, production processes and organization.
  • Ability to estimate amount of work required to perform a particular job.
  • Understand and troubleshoot both mechanical and electrical problems. Specifically, have an understanding of, but not extensively in: welding, electrical, millwrighting, plumbing, rigging, acetylene cutting and welding, sheet metal layout, fabrication and repair, and installation of all types of equipment and related facilities.
  • Able to use computers for word processing, databases, and CMMS.
  • Must have an acceptable tardy and absenteeism rate (less than 2%), and have not received any form of discipline in the last twelve months.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of maintenance experience/internal department experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
