We are looking for a Compensation Manager who will join our Human Resource team in Marysville, Ohio.

At Scotts Miracle-Gro, Compensation Managers utilize their compensation experience to creatively meet business objectives in support of compensation programs. They have strong interpersonal skills and are approachable, proactive, results oriented, responsive, and trustworthy. Proven experience directly within the compensation specialty is key to your success in this role, but true success cannot be achieved without having a desire for problem solving, the ability to face challenges head on, developing creative solutions and maintaining flexibility in all situations.

Your contributions to the team will include:

  • Driving the on-going development and transformation of compensation programs, policies and procedures so they continue to reflect the competitive landscape, market challenges and talent needs in support of our compensation philosophy.

  • As the subject matter expert, you will collaborate with HR and business in the planning, development, implementation and administration of compensation programs by:

    • Understanding the strategies, challenges and opportunities of the business you support

    • Maintaining an in-depth knowledge of the business’ organizational structure, job functions and skill requirements at each job level

    • Actively seeking market intelligence; understanding compensation trends for all functional roles and providing informed compensation solutions to your HR and business partners

    • Ensuring compensation programs are administered in a fair and equitable manner supported by company policies, applicable federal and state regulations or legislation, including applicable wage and hour regulations, and Data Privacy and Protection Guidelines.

  • Support the enterprise initiatives to drive continued education and transparency for all facets of compensation.

  • Partner with HR and the business to drive company-wide compensation change management, communications and training.

  • Translating data into relatable and compelling support for compensation initiatives.

  • Are detail oriented and possess excellent data assessment and analytical skills and have the ability to maintain highly confidential information in a professional manner.

The perfect person will have:

  • 5-7 years of compensation experience.

  • The ability to indirectly lead and influence across multiple levels of the organization on key compensation topics.

  • Experience with both Hourly and Salaried compensation programs with exceptional analytical skills and a high drive for accuracy and quality.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of incentive plan practices and design with a focus on sales commission plan design and financial modeling to deliver a competitive total compensation opportunity.

  • Experience with International pay practices, compensation design and policies.

  • Experience in project management, equity plan administration, and development or administration of expat or global mobility programs (preferred not required).

  • A working knowledge of HR Systems and related reporting (Workday experience is a plus).

  • Knowledge of federal & state regulations pertaining to compensation structure and design.

  • Strong Compliance background (FLSA, min-wage legislation, wage compliance, etc).

  • B.S. in: business administration, accounting, finance, human resource management or organizational development, preferred.
