We are looking for a Manager, Project Management Office who will join our Information Technology team in Marysville, OH.

This position will be based at The Scotts Miracle-Gro world headquarters in Marysville, a suburb of Columbus, OH.  Not familiar with Columbus? Visit columbusregion.com/columbus-2020/

This position contributes to the success of the IT group through active communication, stewardship, and execution of the project portfolio activities, governance of project methodology, improvement and management of key processes, and the governance of performance metrics.

What you’ll do in this role:

  • Implement and influence the overall governance of the project management office methodologies including defining the processes, tools, and metrics that will be used to manage projects.

  • Enhance and develop Software Development  Life Cycle project management methodologies such as Waterfall and Agile

  • Manage the portfolio “in take” process including quality assurance of new requests and prioritizing projects within the infrastructure portfolio

  • Manage the full life cycle project implementation of Scotts’ site setups including procurement of network and telecommunications equipment, printers, and terminals

  • Facilitate and lead cross-functional teams within Scotts and vendor partners

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to all members of the project team

  • Take the lead to ensure Scotts’ standards and project methodologies are followed throughout the project

  • Define the project approach; prepare and manage the project control documents (e.g. Project Schedule, Issues/Risk Logs, Resource Plans, Roles and Approvals etc.)

  • Prepare and communicate the project status to key stakeholders through multiple channels such as weekly reports, status meetings, steering committee meetings, and department staff meetings

  • Ensure timely action for resolution or appropriate escalation when required

  • Control project scope and define clear project structure and roles

  • Take the lead in working with the IT organization in implementing technical solutions

  • Develop and report project and portfolio level metrics

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Minimum: Bachelors in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or Business

  • Project Management - minimum of 7 years of experience in leading projects which include;  managing, budgeting, forecasting, staffing/deployment, time management, schedule and work plan management, financial control, status reporting, issue management and risk management

  • PMO Management - minimum of 3 years experience in establishing/managing a PMO office including project performance management

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills

  • Working knowledge of ServiceNow ITBM is desired

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to effectively express complex concepts in simple business terms across all levels of the organization

  • Ability to develop detailed project plans while maintaining a holistic view, with excellent project management skills from planning to execution

  • Ability to influence and gain alignment with people at all levels in the organization, on the approach and timing to implement solutions to strategic business problems

  • Strong perseverance abilities in the face of challenges and an ability to deal with conflicts constructively

  • Ability to partner with vendors, peers, team members and demonstrate collaborative, effective teamwork.

  • Comfortable and flexible with changing priorities, high levels of ambiguity, and non-routine issues

  • Ability to multi-task in fast-paced deadline intensive environment

  • Ability to anticipate obstacles and plan contingencies

  •  Knowledge of SAP, vendor management, and procurement desired
