We are looking for a Continuous Improvement Manager who will join our Mulch and Soil Manufacturing team in Marysville, OH.

This position will be based at The Scotts Miracle-Gro world headquarters in Marysville, a suburb of Columbus, OH.  Not familiar with Columbus? Visit 

The Continuous Improvement Manager is responsible for leading the continuous improvement strategy across a network of 45+ growing media manufacturing facilities throughout North America.  Daily responsibilities include leading a team of regional process engineers to identify and execute projects that eliminate waste and drive out cost.

What you’ll do in this role:

  • Identify, design, and implement innovative continuous improvement initiatives to improve plant production efficiencies
  • Champion efforts to drive out manufacturing variation by analyzing data, drawing conclusions, and leading implementation of appropriate short and long-term solutions
  • Manage efforts to maintain all equipment documentation including: Clean, Inspect Lube Standards, Process Centerlines, Maintenance Standards, troubleshooting guides and training material
  • Lead the identification of bottlenecks at manufacturing sites and facilitate the implementation of solutions to optimize each production line
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to solve problems, optimize output and reduce costs
  • Create and deliver training to develop continuous improvement skills at all levels of the organization
  • Lead the sharing of continuous improvement ideas and successes across the growing media network
  • Facilitate the review and development of production line standards and establish accurate routed standards at each site
  • Participate in development and prioritization of capital requests

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field
  • 5+ years of continuous improvement leadership experience in a high performance environment
  • Recognized technical abilities and practical experience with strong capabilities in the following areas: 
    • Theory/functionality of manufacturing systems and unit operations
    • Continuous improvement techniques (Lean, TPM, Root Cause Analysis, Quick Changeover/SMED, Process Centerlines)
    • Statistics and analytical methods, Process measurement and control
    • Change management
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing multiple continuous improvement projects in a collaborative environment
  • Exceptional ability to build and maintain relationships across a network of sites and corporate support functions
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, communications, organization, resource management, and technology utilization skills
  • Proven ability to handle changing priorities while maintaining a sense of urgency
  • Strong business acumen, with a solid record of leading change and delivering results
