Scotts Miracle-Gro is looking to drive performance media success in our fast-growing e-commerce and omnichannel marketplaces.  We are looking for a person who knows digital marketing and can sell in their strategy to internal and external parties. We crave an individual that is a  mix of right and left brain – data-driven, but creative in interpreting what data matters, what that data means, and how to use a combination of tangible insights and “feel” to develop unique and powerful marketing programs.

In this role, you’ll lead a wide variety of paid/performance marketing activities, including but not limited to: paid marketing and media plan development, marketing campaign ideation and execution, media budgeting and forecasting, reporting and analysis, customer and competitive research. This focus optimizes how/when/where we advertise with our growing roster of retailer channels.

The Performance Marketing Manager will collaborate with the eCommerce, sales, and retailer teams, as well as external agencies, to plan, develop, support, and grow revenue. This individual is skilled in e-commerce media strategy and the operational management of Amazon, Walmart, Home Depot, and other retail media platforms, providing insight into optimizing the channels and recommendations to the broader organization.

Success in this role depends on driving profitable, measurable e-commerce sales, and share growth across all media investments.

What will you focus on, big picture?

  • Successfully creating winning retailer media and omnichannel digital campaigns that show measurable success

  • Having a robust data-backed opinion on where to spend the next media dollar across eCommerce marketplaces and brands

  • Thriving with cross-functional and remote teams comprising creative, analytics, sales and beyond, with an ability to collaborate successfully at all levels

  • Being the subject matter expert in the leading eCommerce platforms (Amazon, Walmart, Home Depot, eBay, etc.) This includes policies and procedures, and platform-specific factors that profoundly affect conversion.

  • Displaying constant curiosity and looking for new insights, but still retaining comfort with ambiguity

  • Extracting meaning from large volumes of data to recommend the right business decisions

What will you do day-to-day?

  • Plan, develop and execute effective strategies to drive online sales

  • Present results of campaign performance and clearly defined optimization adjustments

  • Work in collaboration with Marketing Analytics and media agencies to create and distribute reporting for retailer websites and Amazon; analyze data, develop reporting dashboards, and provide insights and recommendations

  • Work in collaboration with marketing and external agencies to execute campaigns to improve consumer engagement, increase organic search ranking, and drive revenue

  • Collaborate with Senior Management and the Marketing team on sales strategy

  • Manage platform budget mix, budget pacing, and forecasting of the media budget

  • Provide oversight of Media Agency relationships

  • Continually review and optimize search & positioning strategies to significantly grow relevance for key SKUs

  • Focus on precision and quality, with an equal appreciation for speed to market

  • Perform competitive product research and analysis

  • Identify and onboard new eCommerce marketplaces as needed 

  • Research and recommend third-party solutions to improve efficiency, functionality, and sales performance

  • Make ongoing recommendations to improve processes and workflow

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Proven track record of managing & driving all business KPIs

  • Excellent organization and project management skills; strong attention to detail

  • Demonstrated communication and executive presentation, storytelling skills (oral, written, listening)

  • Strong collaborative problem solver

  • Self-starter with an ability to work independently

  • A Bachelor's Degree (or relevant professional experience) in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, Business or related

  • 6-10 years of progressive experience working in marketing, advertising, brand strategy, analytics, consulting and/or similar roles – start-up or agency experience a plus

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in an E-Commerce, channel management, or digital marketing role

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience supporting and maintaining Amazon processes including Amazon Vendor Central, Seller Central, Fulfillment By Amazon (FBA), 1P, 3P, etc.
