We are looking for a Procurement Manager (Rigid Packaging) who will join our Supply Chain team in Marysville, OH.

As the Procurement Manager for Rigid Packaging, you will be responsible for strategic procurement of rigid packaging components and labels to support multiple internal and third party manufacturing locations throughout North America.

What you’ll do in this role:

  • Create and implement comprehensive procurement strategies for Packaging materials covering market trends, supply assurance, quality improvement, supplier development, sustainability, and financial & supply risk mitigation.

  • Directly manage the materials, services and strategies for rigid packaging and label categories

  • Effectively manage relationships with manufacturing facilities

  • Develop and implement cost savings projects and financial forecasting

  • Negotiate and execute contractual agreements in accordance to established company policies and procedures

  • Ensure compliance related process and procedures are uncompromised

  • Develop disruption mapping and mitigation strategies

  • Foster and maintain supplier relationships

  • Lead supplier selection and development process while working with cross-functional teams like R&D, Marketing, Quality etc. to develop innovative products across Scotts brands.

  • Ensure suppliers are following Scotts sustainability guidelines and implementing required actions

  • Lead evaluation of supplier capabilities, cost structure, risks, and partnership potential to determine supply base

  • This role has one direct report

  • Travel as required 

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree focused in Supply Chain Management, Packaging, Procurement, Accounting/Finance, Economics, or Business Administration. Master’s degree preferred

  • Minimum 5-7 years experience in a Procurement, Sourcing or Purchasing role

  • Ability to coordinate and organize numerous material requirements for multiple plants and contract manufacturing facilities simultaneously, while effectively sourcing suppliers and negotiating contracts for targeted materials

  • Ability to effectively navigate in a regulated industry

  • Knowledge of technical language of R&D (and often the vendors) and the business language of the Brands and Purchasing

  • Strong computer skills (SAP R/3, SAP/PLM, MS office programs)

  • Demonstrated collaborative team player with a strong initiative to win

  • Able to effectively communicate with multiple departments within the company

  • Assertive self-starter with an Entrepreneurial spirit

  • Creative/Out-of-box thinking and ability to successfully sell ideas in a large organization

  • Previous CPG sourcing experience

  • Ability to succeed in a competitive, fast-paced environment

  • Consumer Products or Retail experience a plus
