The Warehouse Quality Technician - Distributed Goods will assure all aspects of product quality are met, including, but not limited to product testing, assembly  measurements, documentation and finished product condition.  Drive to continue to improve the quality of our products for an excellent customer/consumer experience. Conceive, plan, and conduct research in problem areas or areas of opportunity for the business. Work with quality to help with OSD metrics, vendor relations, and warehouse requirements. 





Hours for the Warehouse Quality Tech will be Monday-Friday from 8a - 4:30p. Some overtime may be required.



In this role you will: 

  • Comprehend and execute all Hawthorne Gardening Quality Standard Processes and Procedures (Including SMG Corporate Policies as applicable)

  • Responsible for meeting quality standards for materials and products and executing appropriate actions associated with these standards.

  • Responsible for executing all required testing and assuring compliance to specifications for all job functions 

  • Ability to interpret and respond to in-house testing with analytical equipment. Use the results of the testing to elevate to appropriate parties based on those outcomes.

  • Responsible for the Associate Quality Training Program within the facility. 

  • Audit procedures and specifications of production line checks (MIPs) to assure compliance.

  • Develop with the support of the Quality Manager, Standard Operating Procedures associated with Quality requirements for the HGC assembly/manufacturing processes.

  • Maintain required record keeping/retention of quality documentation within the facility.

  • Responsible for monitoring all incoming raw materials to assure each meets quality standards. 

  • Assure full compliance of all Hawthorne (SMG) and Regulatory/Compliance agencies requirements that pertain to quality.

  • Responsible to lead Plant Quality Discussions and communicate any conditions and concerns with Plant Leadership Team.

  • Perform data entry into SAP QM and data analysis of quality data in a timely manner.

  • Supervise and coordinate plant special projects and testing as directed by Quality Manager.

The perfect person will have:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent work experience in a scientific or quality position. 

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel. 

  • Strong communication and technical writing skills with experience writing SOPs, Work Instructions, technical reports. 

  • Experience leading, managing and training others is strongly desired; the ability to manage multiple projects and multi-task is a must.

  • Ability to follow safe practices and procedures, ability to read English and follow written and verbal instructions, able to work in a dusty environment, hot/cold/ rainy weather, lift 50 pounds, and be able to climb ladders and work on their feet for the entire day.
