We are looking for a Sales Training Manager who will grow at our Vancouver, WA Hawthorne Gardening Co Headquarters. This role will focus on leading our learning and development strategy, managing its implementation and measuring its impact within our sales organization.

In this role you will:

  • Responsible for the design of sales training programs for the Hawthorne sales organization covering content relevant to our products, solutions and other issues relevant to our customers in the indoor/outdoor gardening industry.

  • Ensures that training materials and programs are current, accurate, and effective through partnership with internal technical personnel and other stakeholders.

  • Obtains and develops effective training materials utilizing a variety of media and internal/external content sources.

  • Assists in the collection of competitive product information and industry knowledge for dissemination to sales associates through training and other means.

  • Maintains knowledge of new methods and techniques for training, and training requirements applicable to the Hawthorne sales organization and the indoor/outdoor gardening industry.

  • Identifies problems and opportunities such as operational changes or industry developments that training could improve.

  • Creates, organizes, plans, and presents various forms of training, including sales onboarding, orientation, and skills and product training for sales associates and customers.

  • Collaborates with business and talent management partners as well as third-party training providers to arrange employee registration for and participation in any outside training programs.

  • Ensures that sales & product training milestones and goals are met while adhering to approved training budget.

  • Conducts follow-up studies of all completed training to evaluate and measure results.

  • Maintains records of training and development activities, attendance, results of tests and assessments, and retraining requirements.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

  • Leverage and work alongside intercompany partners in various training departments to leverage and improve upon existing company training platforms

A qualified person will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Human Resources, Training and Development, or a related field required

  • At least two years of training experience required

  • A proven track record of training program development and management 

  • Experience with and an established understanding of how to grow plants indoors in a controlled environment or greenhouse.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to travel.  Up to 50% of travel time to reach training locations and personnel.
