The Senior Analyst Emerging Technology will evaluate and implement cutting edge technology solutions for The Scotts Company. These new technologies will drive business processes, software selection, digital/social marketing, security, and infrastructure improvements. Under the direction of the Manager, staff members, IT colleagues, and other stakeholders, the Senior Analyst Emerging Technology will define detailed customer
requirements, assess available technologies, and develop solutions to meet the emerging technology business needs. Position will require a highly adaptive and motivated individual.

In this role you will:

  • Evaluate and implement emerging technologies for internet technologies, mobile technologies, learning technologies and media services.
  • Partner with the business to identify information and business process enhancement needs.
  • Proactively bring new technology ideas and solutions to the business.
  • Troubleshoot application and data issues to satisfy business requirements.
  • Lead and manage the design, development and maintenance of web applications, mobile applications, social media and media services.
  • Perform hands on technical tasks including configuring applications and devices, and working with vendors (software/hardware) to deliver results.
  • Publish work plans and statuses of open activities with timelines.
  • Prepare detailed specifications from which programs will be written.
  • Create and update required documentation about applications.
  • Develop and adhere to detailed processes for all operational work.
  • Foster and maintain good relationships with customers to ensure that design requirements are integrated to support expected customer service levels.

The Perfect Person Will Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Services, Computer Science, Engineering or related work experience.
  • Knowledgeable with industry standard high-level programming languages and tools; prefer experience with Python, Java or PHP.
  • Experience developing web applications using HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript; prefer experience with mobile development and responsive design.
  • Knowledge of Photoshop, Blender, Matlab, Unity and other 3D skills would be highly valued.
  • Technical knowledge of mobile application development (either Android or iOS).
  • Knowledgeable with systems integration, including operating systems, applications, networks, databases, distributed systems, and client/server architecture.
  • Knowledgeable in overall Administrative Information Systems.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Solid organizational, communication (oral and written), critical thinking and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to maintain a customer focus in providing technology services with a positive, professional outlook.
  • 5+ years Web application development.
  • Experience with structured design, development and implementation of new computing architecture.
  • Experience in leading part of a project which includes success in managing deliverables and deadlines to implement new system solutions.
