We are looking for a Senior Analyst, Infrastructure Engineer who will join our Information Technology team.

Scotts Miracle-Gro IT department is committed to supporting the company’s current and long-term strategies. The Sr. Analyst, Infrastructure Engineer will partner with all areas of IT and the business to support hardware provisioning, software installation and configuration in a secure environment. This role is responsible for providing technical direction, planning and vision. As a technical leader on new projects, the Sr. Analyst, Infrastructure Engineer creates, maintains, and owns infrastructure related technical specifications, designs, and schedules with little direction from manager. The role includes both day-to-day operational support of the computing environment and related platforms, as well as project support. 

What you’ll do in this role:

  • The coordination of infrastructure activity to address corporate computing needs. This would include identifying and acquiring resources to meet the needs of projects and applications.

  • Unix and Linux system administration, including problem identification and resolution, configuration changes, adding and removing software.

  • Provisioning, and deploying virtual instances in cloud environments such as AWS or GCP

  • Creating and maintaining shell (ksh) and PERL scripts.

  • The creation and maintenance of diagrams and documentation describing various aspects of the computing environment.

  • Datacenter work including installing and removing servers and cables as well as maintaining data center work areas.

  • Converting business and technical requirements into appropriate architecture to meet availability, performance and disaster recovery requirements.

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to operate as a member of a cohesive and productive team.

  • Experience with system and application monitoring, software distribution, patching and maintenance in a Linux environment.

  • 2-4 Years of hands-on experience with appropriate infrastructure platforms

  • Significant experience with common internet protocols and services including TCP, UDP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP, SSH, TFTP, NIS, LDAP & AD.

  • Robust troubleshooting and analytical skills.

  • Excellent communication, documentation and presentation skills for technical and business audiences.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with rapidly changing priorities and requirements.

  • Strong desire to learn new material and accept new challenges.

  • BS/BA in Engineering, Math, or Science required; BS/BA Computer Science or Computer Engineering preferred.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills.

  • Deep knowledge of system administration with Linux, UNIX, or VMWare.

  • Strong technical knowledge with core infrastructure services across Systems, Network, and Security platforms.

  • Significant experience with Cloud and SaaS providers for secure infrastructure platform design.

  • Working knowledge of tools used for vulnerability management and security compliance.

  • Working knowledge of infrastructure health monitoring tools and processes.

  • Integrating servers and applications with other critical infrastructure components such as load balancers, reverse proxies, high availability, firewalls, IDS, SSO, and IAM.

  • Knowledge of project management concepts and deliverables.

  • Proficient in technical documentation.
