We're looking for a Sourcing Manager, Active Ingredients to join the the Scotts Miracle-Gro Supply Chain team in Marysville, OH!

This position will be based at The Scotts Miracle-Gro world headquarters in Marysville, a suburb of Columbus, OH.  Not familiar with Columbus? Visit columbusregion.com/columbus-2020/

This position is responsible for the procurement of active ingredient raw materials used in the production of Scotts’ controls products manufactured at internal and external production sites.  The individual in this position will collaborate with R&D and Marketing to develop a 3-5 y year global technology and innovation strategies and will be responsible for leading the supplier selection and development process.  Monthly duties also include financial forecasting as well as development and execution of cost savings projects. The individual will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with new and existing global raw material suppliers.  

In this role you will:

  • Work with cross functional resources to develop 3 to 5 year global technology strategies for Scotts’ controls product portfolio which includes insect, disease and weed control products.

  • Lead evaluation of supplier capabilities, cost structure, risks, and partnership potential.

  • Negotiate and execute supply, development, and toll manufacturing agreements in accordance to established company policies and procedures.

  • Create and implement comprehensive procurement strategies for all responsibilities.

  • Develop and implement cost savings projects that annually generate a minimum of 2-3% of assigned spend.

  • Ensure compliance related process and procedures are uncompromised.

  • Develop disruption mapping and mitigation strategies.

  • Travel as required.

The perfect candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Agriculture, Entomology, Chemical Engineering or related field.

  • Industry knowledge of active ingredients (natural and synthetic herbicides and pesticide ingredients) and key suppliers of active ingredients.

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years in sourcing, purchasing and procurement ideally within active ingredients and raw materials.

  • International purchasing experience preferred.

  • Strong computer skills (SAP R/3, MS office programs).

  • Ability to coordinate and organize numerous material requirements for multiple plants and contract manufacturing facilities simultaneously, while effectively sourcing suppliers and negotiating contracts for targeted materials.

  • High degree of critical thinking.  Must be able to independently source and evaluate supplier capabilities.  Must be able to make methodical and intelligent decisions relative to strategy and negotiations.

  • Ability to effectively navigate in a regulated industry (global agrochemical industry).
