We are looking for a Senior Financial Analyst, Manufacturing and Distribution who will grow at our corporate office in Marysville, OH.

The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible to assist the Growing Media facilities (manufacturing and distribution) in financial performance tracking and reporting.  The Senior Financial Analyst will support the Controller by providing a deeper level of financial support to a specific Region. The Senior Financial Analyst will assist with the monthly close, forecast and budget.  The Senior Financial Analyst will be the key contact for the plants in these Regions for reporting and ad hoc analytics.

In this role you will:

  • Assist in the monthly close process, including general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, variance analysis and plant reporting.
  • Assist in monthly forecasting and annual budgeting process, including strong involvement in 6Q planning.
  • Ad hoc financial analytics for plants in the supported Region.
  • Create executive level summaries using large amounts of data.
  • High degree of financial analysis to help interpret financial data.  Individual must be capable of assisting in identifying, creating and implementing solutions to procedure issues and enhance financial reporting.  Must be able to identify and articulate process issues and attempt to formulate solutions.
  • Individual must be able to work on accounting and operational issues that require communicating with various level of the organization (production associates to Corporate finance).

The perfect person will have:

  • A degree in Accounting or Finance as well as 3 to 5 years of experience is preferred.
  • Strong accounting skills with an emphasis in cost accounting.  
  • Focus on Customer Needs – The Scotts Supply Chain is extremely customer and results oriented.  
  • Technical / Functional Expertise:
  • Fact based analysis – This individual is responsible for developing our organization's knowledge and understanding of an approximately $57M conversion budget and $170M raw material & packaging budget.  
  • The individual must be able to identify analyze data, identify key drivers, and communicate the findings to plant management in an accurate, concise manner.
    • Adaptability – Scotts is a demanding work environment that attempts to react quickly to the needs of our customers and senior management.  
    • Acts with integrity – As with all finance positions at Scotts, the proper individual for this position will understand what it means to act with the highest level of integrity in our changing business environment, and will have the courage to do so.
    • Analyze and Solve Issues – Gathering relevant information systematically; considering a range of issues and factors; grasping complexities and relationships is critical to this position.  The importance is compounded by the operation size, product offering, and number of processes and complexity of accounting issues.
  • Work Efficiently – This associate needs to be able to work efficiently and handle multiple demands and competing priorities.  This is an operational accounting as well as financial reporting.
