We are looking for an Technology Manager, DevOps who will join our Cloud Application Development team.

This position will be based at The Scotts Miracle-Gro world headquarters in Marysville, a suburb of Columbus, OH.  Not familiar with Columbus? Visit

The Technology Manager, DevOps will partner with IT vendors and the Business to deliver and support associate facing mobile and web applications. We expect this role to operate in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment in which there will be a need to balance technical expertise with a strong business understanding. At Scotts, we are continually investigating new innovative solutions.

What you’ll do in this role:

  • Lead and manage the design, development, and implementation of technical solutions within a project team on internal applications

  • Analyze, design and develop tests and test automation tools

  • Design and develop cloud infrastructure for applications

  • Provide ongoing support, maintenance and enhancements to existing internal applications

  • Perform hands on technical tasks configuring applications and work with software vendors to deliver results

  • Partner with the team Business Analyst/Project Manager to deliver work plans and statuses

  • Provide thought leadership on ways to drive continuous improvement

  • Research and collaborate with business partners on solutions for developing an application’s roadmap

  • Collaborate with internal business partners and work cross-functionally with departmental team members to foster team commitment to tasks

  • Foster and maintain good relationships with business partners to ensure design requirements are integrated to support expected customer service levels.

  • Prepare detailed specifications from which programs will be written

  • Ensure the business systems are secure and reliably supporting continuous operation of the company

  • Create and update required documentation

  • Develop and adhere to detailed processes for all operational work

  • Provide rotational off-hours production support

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Management Information Systems

  • Minimum of 5-10 of development experiences, with expert knowledge in several areas

  • Strong DevOps focus and experience on Google Cloud Platform

  • Hands on experience with technologies like Python, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Angular, TypeScript

  • Exposure of experience with Ionic, Cordova, Flutter, Couch & Pouch

  • Experience with test-driven development and automated testing frameworks

  • Experience in agile development methodologies

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills

  • Experience desired in leading part of a project which includes success in managing deliverables and deadlines to implement new system solutions.
