The Scotts Miracle-Gro is investing heavily in its eCommerce Growth. Our current eCommerce infrastructure as it stands today comprises Digital Asset Management, Product Information Management (PIM), Digital Shelf Capabilities Providers, and other eCommerce & product data application platforms. Our aspirations in this space require us to build upon these early successes and scale our tools, data and processes. This role will also work with several upstream and downstream systems like our SAP Product Lifecycle Management, direct-to-consumer platforms built on Magento, SAP ERP, and other data platforms as needed.

As Technical Manager, Ecommerce Technology, you will work closely with eCommerce Business leaders, understanding short and long term eCommerce development plans required to fulfill the company's business and technology strategies. Understand the importance of Product Information, Content, and Data Workflow & Automation in building competitive advantage in the eComm space. Ensure industry leading support by ensuring focus on quality technical design, quality assurance testing, and high availability.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Review design to make sure design is aligned with Architecture.
  • Knowledge of eCommerce platforms, PIM and Web CMS.
  • Deep understanding of Payment and Order Management systems is required.
  • Knowledge of Mobile technologies/frameworks, Google Analytics, SEO and Tagging.
  • Understanding of Systems integration concepts – Web Service (REST, SOAP), Batch, EDI, sFTP, API Gateways, Mulesoft Anypoint platform.
  • Order Management Systems and SAP integration experience is a definite plus.
  • Understanding of HTML5, CSS and modern JavaScript frameworks.
  • Knowledge of eCommerce security and site performance.
  • Documents design specifications, troubleshoots and testing.
  • Actively involved with requirement understanding and analysis.


  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills
  • Strong verbal & written communications skills
  • Knowledge and/or hands on experience on integration tools like Mulesoft preferred
  • Strong experience in XML, XSD, XSLT, SOAP/REST and web services
  • Message queue technologies such as Kafka, ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ
  • Agile practices such as scrum and Kanban
  • DevOps practices and tooling such as CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, pipeline automation, Jenkins, Git, Ansible
  • Knowledge of AWS, Azure, and GCP
  • Understanding of SAP Workflow, IDOCs, and EDI support
  • Knowledge of project management concepts and deliverables
  • Proficient in technical documentation and functional  specification writing
  • Experience establishing and leading an agile team with DevOps practices and technology.
  • Deep knowledge of integration technologies including API platforms and management, messaging technologies and batch file transfer tools.
  • Highly collaborative with proven experience partnering, influencing and negotiating.
  • Clearly establishing Project Plans, milestones, stakeholders, and manage change through the Scotts organization
  • Lead teams in development, implementation, and support of the DTC systems and processes
  • Provides leadership to development projects that create and continuously improve the functionality, reliability, scalability, and security of the company's eCommerce applications and systems

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems, or related discipline or equivalent.
  • Multiple experiences lead with working knowledge of solutions in web content management, B2B & B2C ecommerce, digital asset management, PIM, CRM, web analytics, sales execution & marketing automation, search and customer data management.
  • Experience in designing and building scalable, multi-tenant solutions, while following best practices and standards.
  • A minimum of 10 years of  experience and background in information systems and information technology, with at least 7+ years in solutions architecture with increasing responsibilities in digital solutions or innovation/digital role.
    • eCommerce Platforms – Adobe Magento, Salesforce, headless commerce solutions
    • Experience in Digital Asset Management and Product Information Management
    • Experience in Sales and Marketing automation solutions
    • Mulesoft API & Web services (REST & SOAP)
    • Java, Spring Boot, Angular.js, Node.js, Vue.js, React.js
